    Ditech 125?

Who knows, it will most likely be a V-Twin 125 which should push abit, but there going to have to do alot of weight loss tactics, like ally subframes, lighter components if there going to make it shoft at all.

if they did a 250 4 stroke then it would have similar performance to the rs125 , but unless the provisional licence laws change then that aint gonna happen is it

I'd like to think that aprilia will go down the di-tech path, it's working on scoots, so there might be hope.

I tried to get a test ride today on one of those at a dealership I parked up at lol

The miserable gits said no as they don't have the insurance for it and also as they don't have any in as of yet - still got the plain standard ones in!! I'll just go try my old Aprilia dealer (now gone to a Peugeot dealers) see what they say :>

    Hi

Not sure it will be replaced as not sure the profit per unit and the sales figures will cover it. The RS was designed when the Italian 125 market was very bouyant. Go to Italy in the early 1990s and you could not move for 125 race replicas. Go there now and you will be lucky to see one.

If they do replace it then it would not surprise me if they do so with a 125 of 11kW, so probably a 4 stroke. This is a fairly widespread hp limit for learners in Europe now. Probably very few of the full power 125s they sell are being ridden legally.

Without fitting a supercharger it would be difficult to get a respectable amount of power from a 4 stroke 125. A supercharger would not be an easy and cheap piece of bolt on equipment so can hardly be sold to "derestrict" the bikes. If they fitted it from new and then restricted the engine it would add greatly to the price and would not be legal for most of their target market. Add to that various proposed laws to prevent any modifications to bikes (such as hardened inserts in the ports so that they cannot be easily reshaped).

Whether they use a DiTech 2 stroke engine (probably quite easily possible as long as they accept that they are not currently going to get anything like the amount of power they are currently getting) or a 4 stroke we will have to wait and see. A V twin 4 stroke would add greatly to the cost, weigh more and have only a nominal effect on performance.

    All the best

    Keith
