I ride mine almost entirely in "S" - using "T" only for heavy traffic! I don't know - I just don't feel as connected to the bike when it's in "T" mode.

    To each his own!

I live in the S mode. Tried the "T" mode once and never bothered trying the rain mode.

You obviously cant change the engine characteristics but the fly-by-wire does change the way the riders throttle unput is applied. My understanding is that in touring mode the throttle iskept open slightly on the rolloff or at least allows more air in in order to reduce the engine braking.

It S bike does slow down WAY quicker then T. I think it might have something to do with fueling maps. I personally think its way too snatchie in S mode.
Blimey haven't tried it in sport mode yet..purely touring for the first 600 miles

Its easy with practice. When changing down, apply a little ( and I do mean a litttle) pressure on the gearchange and blip the throttle. If you have got it right, job done. It can give a slower gearchange than useing the clutch though and if you use the clutch ytyou can change down more than one gear at a time.
This method is really usefull if a clutch cable snaps or you break off a clutch lever

That is the nature of a V-twin over an I-4, you will have more engine braking. The electronics (in the different modes) offer some help as the throttle bodies open/close at different rates, which will help reduce it. However, it is totally up to the rider to modulate the right hand and the left fingers to ride smoothly.

One better... Ditch the map switching and make it easier for custom maps.

I have the GT version and after I installed a Dna filter it runs pretty smooth both in T and S mode. I agree that T mode is suited only for heavy traffic, especially if 2 up. Engine braking, more to the point, is less with the new filter.

I can`t understand why it`s so hard to "crack" the maping on the shiver, when it`s posibel on the Rsv4, I think i have read somewhere you can get a akra map for that??
    Isnt also ride by wire??

As for the factory mapping.... My understanding is that the Shiver doesn't "need" a different map to add on the akra's, where as the RSV's Tuono's and the RSV4 all require different maps for optimum performance with the factory authorized akrapovic system.

I envy your self restraint. The Shiver will be my first real bike and I know I wont be able to resist trying sport mode day one.
