Thumbs down Shipping costs from UK to SA

I've been trying for a while now to get a Honda RR29 Rectifier/regulator for my bike. I don't need it right now, but thought I'd do the mod and prevent future problems.

Okay, so fleabay don't ship to SA because when our local hero's see the package is from Fleabay, they do some "affirmative shopping" and your package never reaches you. (That's what I was told)

Then I found another site http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/ that acutually sells the unit for less than E-bay and the good news is, they will ship to SA.

So, I go about the ritual of placing the order and as I'm about to "check out", I notice the shipping costs 85 Pounds. The RR29 is priced at 49 Pounds. So I send them an e-mail to ask if that is correct. "Yes sir, that is the price we are quoted for shipping to SA. We actually subsidize the shipping costs by 10%".

Needless to say, I still haven't bought it.

Wynand, I bet you that is based on courier rates.

Ask them to check royal air mail price. Goody sent me a package with them, as well as Mike... 15 and 10 GBP each (Royal air mail). I received the first package within 10 days.

Maybe you should check with guys from the UK on this forum to take delivery and forward it on to you with regular mail.

Hi mate I live about 2 miles from the coventry branch of busters, would be happy to help out if needed. I had a quick look at royal mail worldwide and postage is between £18 to £40 pound depending on what service you use and how fast you want it.
    Cheers Mark.

    Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

I'm not in a hurry at all, so snail mail will do. I'm heading back to SA tomorrow and will be returning to Angola on the 14th of April. If its not there by the time I come back, no problem, the missus can collect it and I'll install it the next time I go home. This is just being a bit proactive, as my rectifier is still fine

Mark, How will one arrange the payment? I have a PayPal account. Would that be the best/easiest/safest way?

    Thanks
