Hard bags / trunk for newer Tuonos?

Does anyone know of any hard bag / trunk options for a 2007 Tuono? I've looked around quite a bit, and can only find options for the pre-2006 models. Givi doesn't make anything (called them).

I'm looking into doing my own, at least for a hard trunk.
Givi makes a mounting plate, a spare seat is cheap. Build some mounts off the seat from threaded dowels and a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate drilled to accept the Givi mounting plate. Voila! A hard bag mount that is detachable in seconds and can be switched from either a passenger seat or the cowl, all with the ignition key. A more robust system would include a brace down to the silencer mount at the cost of a bit more time/energy to make the swap.

I have a Marsee, that is rigid and large enough for a weeks worth of stuff depending on how you pack. They also have a smaller one that is good for over nighters or a daily bag to go to work. I have always had good luck with their stuff.

For a short trip, eg 3 day weekend, I use a Givi Voyager tail trunk. It has a 2" wide Velcro strap that will slip under the pillion seat. It comes with a pair of small bungee cords that criss-cross underneath for stability but, the little hooks scratched the snot out of my rear bodywork. I replaced them with some small ROK straps and no problems.

Easily holds 3 or 4 days worth of stuff, including my little Toshiba netbook and a Nikon D90 with lens. Supplement with a small tank bag and I'm good for a week or more, which means I can go for a month or more so long as the weather remains consistent.

Sorry but if you want hard luggage then you should really consider a Goldwing or BMW

You can then store and tow everything you might need.

I hear they wheelie well though

You really only need three things for bike maintenance
If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape
If it doesn't move and it should - WD40
...and if it falls off and you want to reattach it - Cable ties.

    hard box luggage

I am in the process of sorting out a rack - read 5mm alloy plate system on my Tuono for a 35l Givi top box fitting in place of the passenger seat. Bolted down so no issues with safety. I have done same for 2004 R1 and 2007 Fireblade. Works well but no place for passengers! Wife doesn't like bikes anyhow. As soon as I have it operational I will do the pics thing.

I just put a GiantLoop Great Basin bag on my Tuono to get ready for a trip next month. It seems like it's going to be a deluxe solution for luggage on this bike. Easy on, easy off, and the space in side is cavernous compared to other systems I've used. It sits very securely and you don't even know it's there. Plus it has special spots sewn into it for carrying the MSR fuel bottles that I always need anyway on long trip to extend my range

Here is it loaded up for a test run.

Right now I just have the rear ties looped over the license plate bracket which is probably fine since they are only to keep it from sliding forward. My old bags looped over the indicator stalks and never had a problem even though they were actually securing the load. Still, I may add some D-Rings to the bungie hook bobbins back there.

That looks sweet! How many days can you pack up in there? I'm planning what I hope to be a 2-3 week trip this summer (if I can get the time off work), and need a good luggage solution.

Pdx - I'm not really sure. It all depends on how you pack, I guess. My normal trips aren't as long as that but this is larger than my old Cortech luggage. And the internal space lets you pack larger things than the small individual side/top bags.

I made this plate to fit a Givi top box in place of the passenger seat. Two posts at the front and two c sections in alloy to slot over the frame tube at the back. Seems quite sturdy.

Can you post a picture of the bottom of this? I am curious to see how you fabricated the mounting.

My ultimate solution is just put the Givi bags on my Sprint ST and use that for long trips. Packing the tail trunk and tank bag would actually get me on the road for as long as needed on the Tuono. I have clothing that will dry overnight hanging in the shower of a hotel room, no need to pack more than 3 days worth and a bottle of Woolite. I will say the Sidi Vertigos and pants with zip off legs make an unusual fashion statement.
