I believe it is Danilo PETRUCCI 's Came IodaRacing Project RSV4 powered CRT bike does not have the engine upgrades as the other ART bikes on the grid. They are running a standard engine & dont have the Aprilia racing upgrades like the other teams. If you follow motogp you will see his topspeeds are way down from all the other bikes on the grid. His stock bike is about 20 kmh off the fastest CRT bikes & as much as 40kmh off the fastest prototype bikes

I think the BMW is as good, but not better, bike than the RSV4F.
Right out of my mouth. The winners are the guys who're the best at cheating. Cheaters win, winners cheat.

I think inorder to call one or the other the "best," you'd have to make the determination as to where it was taking place. Use Misano this weekend.. I4's had nothing on the V4's round there. Other places, the roles are reversed.

I know what spec the ART motors are and i know what power that makes. Smoke and mirrors. I've put a 990 motogp ducati on my dyno - it was not 255bhp!! Someone else here has also dyno one, it also was not 255bhp. All the 220bhp honda superbikes i hear about on the commentary barely make 190 on my dyno. Its all shit

Tim, are the Honda superbikes claiming 220 HP at the wheels or at the crank? Also aren't those bikes so tunable that you can alter their outputs drastically based on goals of reliability and fuel economy? I am just curious because as an avid WSBK fan, I noticed that the SBK RSV4's are claiming 215 HP and the Yamaha R1's were 220 HP. I always wondered if they were talking crank or dyno numbers.

manufacturers usually quote hp figures at crank.

I saw the Ulster GP highlights on TV last night, William Dunlop's SS Honda was so fast that Anstey in his slipstream couldn't get past down the flying Kilo, top speed of over 178 mph !!!

The S1000rr is pretty damn fast. I have a 2010 rsv4r and I raced my buddy in a straight line, his s1000 is a lot faster. I was going 180mph as he flew past me still pulling pretty hard.

Having owned both the S1000RR and RSV4 the BMW has more hp and is the quicker bike in a straight line

The HP difference between an RSV4 vs an S1000RR is almost likes a GSXR 750 vs a GSXR 1000. That is the extent in which BMW has moved the horsepower war goal posts. However, the advantage doesn't always translate to faster lap times. Even on very fast race tracks like Monza, the RSV4 is right there with the S1000RR. If you are a drag racer or live for high speed straights, the RSV4 is not the bike to be on. The Kawi and BMW will eat your lunch everyday.

The RSV4 is the more complete/balanced package out there though, I get more pleasure from riding the RSV4 than scareing myself on the S1000RR

In all honesty the S1000RR is all about 'that' engine, it dominates the bike whereas the V4 in the Aprilia is part of the bike
