I guess it would depend on how much your insurance would be (riding versus storage insurance). Also, how else would you get to and from University? The cost to run the SR50 (fuel wise) is VERY cheap.

Oh, btw, we don’t call the SR50 a Moped… There is a BIG difference between a Moped and a Scooter. A Moped allows you to use either peddle power to get around or a motor assist. Where as a Scooter is all motor (unless you run out of fuel, then I guess it’s a push scooter ).

I would have 2 years no claims then so im guessing about £150, and I would be living in halls or nearby housing so its not essential, I'm just thinking how much use it would actually be to me. If its no use, ill just end up selling it, but id like to know what people think before I make any decision I regret.

Haha alright, ill bear that in mind

EU defines a 'ped as below 50cc and speed limited to 50 KPH, with or without pedals. A lot of US states allow a scoot fitting this definition to be ridden without a licence, so whatever you choose to call it, the concept's the same. Unrestricted, it becomes a light motorcycle in the EU and many states.

For Spitfire, I'd sell the 'ped - or keep it at home for the breaks - and get a push bike for Uni. That and public transport will do everything you need and you won't have the hassle of maintaining, taxing, insuring and preventing the theft of your 'ped. The latter is very likely given the usual student digs. A push bike you can keep in your room or the hallway. Think about a folding bike. Much less risk of having one of those nicked.

Yeah, they tend to be referred to as a ped, so thats what im used to, but i will stand corrected! I was thinking about that, but what ive realised is the insurance reneweal date is in january, and i start in September, so I can keep it until the insurance runs out, kind of like a 'trial run', then decide whether or not to renew it after that
