    Scarabeo 200 questions ???

    Hi;
    I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm postingin the right spot ???
    I just bought a 2008 Scarabeo 200 & really enjoy it. Except for one thing...I really DON'T like the little tiny windscreen that comes stock on the bike. Has anyone here ever removed one of these ?
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks !

    You don't like the LOOK or what it does?
    Take it off and you will then appreciate what it does.
    It does keep a fair bit of the air off your chest and depending on how fast you're going it will deflect bugs past your visor/goggles what not. The faster you go the more the deflection.

    Hi SP56;
    Well, believe it or not, I don't like the 'look'...I can appreciate what it does, but I think the bike look better without it . ( Personal opinion...)
    However, if it truly is a 'functional' as what you're saying ...it may just stay there. I just want to know how to remove it to see for myself.
    Hopefully it's not too complcated ???...
    Thanks !

    2 or 3 screws - 2 little plastic covers on dash panel, I take them off with a sharp pick - gently lift one end then peel up and off, then 2 screws under them, remove dash cover, and there are 2 or 3 screws that hold windshield on - 10 minutes after you do it first time. ok, ok 5 screws!

    Actually, I'm not crazy about the look either, too upright, not sporty enough....
    I do appreciate the function of it though and thought it would be better tinted but no one locally would try to apply a tint film siting it was too flexible or it wouldn't stick to lexan. I also thought of using the paint that's made for taillight lenses but so far haven't worked up the guts to try it. Maybe I'll try something during the non riding months this winter.

    Ditto what IsPUD for taking it off.

    I like the little screen, I like the giant Givi screen, and I like no screen with the replacement humped up dash panel - it's fun to change the appearance of the scooter so simply - and there are some amazing differences in riding these different configurations.

    The plastic panel that replaces the one installed on US scoots. It has a cowling over the dash. Like the tater guy, I love my big Givi windscreen but I sold my original to one of our brethren whose dealer never got him the US mini-screen. Now if I want to ride without the windshield it takes about 3 minutes to loosen the nuts on the supports and slide the sucker off the scoot.

    I have a 2008 Aprillia Scarabeo 200 and from what I gather, it is the one year that the DOT did not allow the mfg to include a windscreen on the bike. Can anyone tell me exactly what Givi Screen will fit my bike? I don't want to order the wrong part and then try to return it. It would really help with the early morning cold and longer rides up the coast.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Musta been a US thing. I bought my 200 in June of '08. Came with a DOT marked windscreen. In fact I bought a spare, also DOT marked from another forum member. PM ispud. I'm sure he'd help you out with the Givi part #.

    I removed it for the "cold" season here in florida ... and lost top end on the highway from 86 to 76 mph .... which on the florida highway is not good ... anyway it can be done but be very careful ... I broke off one of the inside holders as I was re installing ... needed back that extra ommff :P ... Good luck
