    Shocked

I see that Aprilia makes a aftermarket shock upgrade for the R Factory.

Is this a good investment, or are there even better upgrades??

It's a good 2 up shock or if your over 250 pounds. Other than that it is way too stiff even on it's softest setting.

I weigh 135 as well, and am interested in this shock, but maybe highgain knows of a more suitable alternative.

The shock is listed as a "Racing Shock". I believe that there are other aftermarket shocks out there; you just need to search the various on-line Scooter stores.

Having said that, I have the racing shock and I love it. My weight moves between 200 and 215 (not including what ever I have in the Helmet well or the Top Case) and I find that I like the idea of adjusting the shock based on the road conditions. I also think it looks sharp!!

I'm 180lb, ride alone and I've got it on the 3rd notch, which i feel is perfect. When I sit on the bike, both the front and rear compress by the same amount, and when i drive over bumps, they "feel" the same though my hand and through my butt.

And that's just the spring rate. The dampening is also much better, which is immediately noticable if you enjoy some spirited driving on twisty roads and often find road imperfections in your way.

I have the shock HG shows above. it came with a spanner to adjust. that little black piece on the bottom also clicks each turn but even after reading im not sure what exactly its adjusting.some kind of fine adjusting it seems. the malossi english translations arent the best this one is for the PPJ. it was a little more but the aprilia only has 4 settings. i think this is fully adjustable. i dont know as much as i should, but im gettin there

probably adjusts rebound or compression damping maybe both. At least that's how it is on my car shocks.

Usually, when there's only one adjustment on a shock, it's compression, so as you crank the knob, it should become stiffer and stiffer on the compression stroke.
