Anybody want to hire me a system for our long weekend trip to Germany? (I'm too tight to buy one)
You really only need three things for bike maintenance
If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape
If it doesn't move and it should - WD40
...and if it falls off and you want to reattach it - Cable ties.
Oh cheers for that, doesn't look too bad at all! I have seen that they do an all black one though...

oh, go on, you know you want to...
Actually, how much did it cost for the whole set up?
I was really only looking for a small tank bag to take a map, spare visor, waterproofs etc, then I was going to use a pair of throw overs and/or a tail pack.
I've got an old tank bag but it's a magnetic one....

Famsa tank bags are pretty good. Comes with two bags which can be zipped together. The base can be fitted in about 30 seconds. Think it's the best bike investment i've made (for carrying waterproofs over here!).
Doesn't destroy the looks to much either, especially with the smaller bag on (shown).

Thanks Monkey Hanger....
Nice bag but at a £125 it's a lot of money when I really only need the small section, looks good though.
Have you used it with both sections on? Does it help support you on the motorway and cut down wind blast?
I like the idea that you could leave half the bag at the hotel when you are out riding during the day.
If anyone is looking for a Baglux for a Tuoldo there is a red one on ebay

I got lucky. Bought mine second hand off Tuono Grant on here for 40 quid.
Have used it full yes. It is nice to lean on, but i wouldn't say it makes any difference to the wind blast. The smaller bag is ideal for a day out, carrying some waterproofs, a camera and a map. Comes with a plastic cover also.

Baglux stuff isn't cheap.
The tank covers are about £85, but might have gone up with the Euro.
The tank bags are all about £90+
The Ventura rack is Dr Jon's from his RSVR (when "he saw the light" and bought an R1) so I don't know what a set costs. The Bags are about £100.
Famsa is pretty good, Windy and one or two others have it & it works for them.
Tank bags generally don't improve wind blast - they alter the airflow behind the screen & in my experience make it worse.
I personally reckon the Ventura set up is the puppy's privates regards the balance between carrying capacity, convenience, and being able to lose it all quickly. I have tried hard luggage (too heavy), tail pack (too limited) soft panniers (too wide) but that's just me. It's cost means you have to get some serious use out of it to justify the outlay, so it's not for everyone.
I went down the baglux route because it also protects the paintwork for long trips and Liz can sort their system more easily than the Famsa one when we fill up.
I also have the actual Aprilia tank bag for my Tuoldo, but it's pretty pants IMHO.
