Slight rattling sound.

Hi Group,
the other day I rode around private property without my helmet on, and noticed a clicking sound coming from the engine. I am not sure if the clicking has just happened or it is 'normal' for a 2 stroke engine. Can someone please start their Ditech without a helmet and listen carfeully for a clicking type noise coming from the engine and not the exhaust.
Also how often does 1 need to change the rings on a 2 stroke scooter. I remember when I use to ride moto-x (Yamaha YZ-80's), I would change my rings every 2nd race meeting.

It is har to say. does the noise follow the revs of the engine? It could just be your injectors, or it could be your compresser. Can you tell where abouts the noise is comming from? Is it towards the rear of the engine, near the variator, near the cylinder? Is it a loud noise? is it high pitched or is it a deeper clunking noise?

If you are talking about an almost ticking sound, that is very faint and sort of high pitched, then it is just your injectors. Have you ever held a spark plug on the side of an engine while you turned it over? if you have, you know the sound the spark plug makes when it is firing? That is what the injectors usually sound like.

I just started the bike inside my garage, and quickly placed a rag over the exhaust so I could hear the engine. And I am pretty much certain the noise is the compressor or injector.
When someone gets a chance, could you have a close listen to you compressor or injectors and see if it makes a clicking type noise. It is noticable.

Yup mine ticks away it disappears pretty much on overrun so i guess mainly fuel injector.....
