    LX150 vs Vespa S 150

some pics of both the LX150 and Vespa S 150. Both use the same chassis, wheels, and engine. The differences are in the trim levels and details.

You can think of the LX as the "luxury" model, and the "S" as the sport model

the S, has stripped down solo seat, no glove box, old school dash and square headlight, and sport shocks

the LX has the modern dash, round headlight, and bigger seat

I ride a red Vespa S demo all the time.....love it!!!!

In the pictures, the red is the S, the light blue is a LX150

That blue LX looks just like my wife's, except hers is metallic blue.

As far as stability goes, Hondaracer, the Vespa LX's are pretty stable but steer quickly because they have small diameter tires. They're totally approachable compared to a motorbike; twist and go, so no shifting and light with what weight there is carried pretty low.

And the brakes are decent now on modern scooters although I'm used to radial Brembos and there is no comparing that setup with a scooter.

All in all the LX150 is a great tool for in-city travel. Incredibly cheap to run, nicely built, enough power to hang with the cars. I had an LX50 for a couple of years and always felt like there wasn't enough power to stay out of trouble.

The Vespas are very stable, and have much higher load/ carrying rating than the Hondas and other Japanese brands

the Vespa frame and body are all metal, uni-body style constuction, very rigid, very sturdy....all metal body.

for a classic style scooter the Vespa is the best, beats all the plastic ones by a mile.

We have a SR 50 scooter and need a scooter with enough power to cruise country roads in Ohio with a 55 speed limit so being able to run 60 to 65 is a must. I love the Sr brakes and handling but it is just to slow my does 51 mph.
Are the Vespa 150cc fast enough or should I look at a 300cc?
Are the Vespa stable at 60 to 65 mph compared to the SR 50?

I wouldn't consider the Vespa 150 range, at MOST it could be considered a "lateral" movement for you, in regards to acceleration definitely a downgrade.

For the speeds you're looking to be capable of I wouldn't look at less than 300- for me the Sportcity 300's the best deal you can get however the BV is very popular as well.

Depending on your size & riding experience I wouldn't rule out a 500. A lot of left over stock is out there, and if you're not doing low speed commuting (inner city, traffic, etc) that might be the most formidable option.

The S150 does come with two keys, however it does not come with a master (brown) key and regular (blue) key- they'll both be standard black keys.

American models do not require the code card to program keys. Some dealers give them to customers, some toss them.
