    Cheap(er) parts alternatives list

Mods, if you would be so kind as to sticky this for everyone's benefit.

So with the latest posting about bimmer sprags working on our bikes i figured it was time to start compiling a list of cheap or cheaper alternatives to oem aprilia parts. The information here is compiled from other postings here and on other forums, as such I do not take credit for any of this I am only listing it all in one place. Please let me know if there are errors and I will correct.

    Sprag parts:

    Cheaper - Ducati p/n 7014007A
Cheapest - BMW p/n ENA57177 (must be rebuilt to engage in the opposite direction, or install "backwards" both methods have apparently been proven effective)

    Fuel Filter:

    WIX p/n 33032

    Front rotors:

Ducati p/n unknown, see AF1 store

But the 916, 996 and 998 models do. Also 89 Yamaha FZR 1000 rotors too.

For the record....The WIX 33032/Napa 3032/ Fram G2 fuel filter is a 5/16" plastic in-line fuel filter designed for carbureted engines and is not designed to handle the pressure(s) of a fuel injected engine.

I'll have to double check this cause the filter I picked up was very definitely metal and so far I have had no issues with it.

SORRY... The NAPA 3032/WIX 33032 is in fact a metal-cased filter but as such is still designed for carbureted applications. (I was thinking of the 3002/33002) Many Nissan & Honda fuel-injected vehicles did use metal in-line filters though....). The NAPA 3310 is a metal-bodied FI-type fuel filter that is a little bit longer than the OEM Aprilia one but retails for about $12...You may want to look at that if you want the piece of mind that it won't "come apart" inside your fuel tank.

    Sprag Replacement KTM

The least expensive sprag replacement I have found is KTM Free-Wheel part number 5844002600. I bought mine from KTM World online for $79.69 plus 9 dollars shipping. It goes in "backwards" compared to the Aprilia part and lacks a flange on one side. From my research the Ducati and BMW equivalent sprags cost $170 and $115 respectively. The OEM Aprilia part is over 340 dollars.

The KTM sprag has been in my bike about month now and I have ridden it over 800 miles. Works perfectly.

Another source for the sprag clutch is BRP Bombardier - the V990 is used in the CanAm Spyder variants. The part # is 420659110, and it's $117 online. I don't know if it's an exact replacement for the Aprilia sprag, but it seems likely.

Where did you find the CanAm part for $117? I am seeing prices ranging between $139.49 and $169.99 with the most common being $143.49. One place had it for $143.49 minus a 10% discount for a total of $130.45, but I can not seem to find it for $117.

Just make the static earth wire is screwed to a hose clamp around the filter, otherwise you may get a tank fire upon filling.
