    Question Akrapovic exhaust

Just had my new Akrapovic exhaust fitted today and it came back like this. To me it dosent look right as the top's of both the exhaust are turned inwards, a bit like this / \ but the mechanic at the garage said they are all like that ? Any comments.

I think you're right, they should be more 'vertical'. Give that grease monkey a clip round the ear and tell him to get them fitted right this time...

Was it a full system or just the slipons? The angle those have been set at is ridiculous.

Like this, obviously a gen1 (and therefore better) but you get the picture (literally in this instance....).

Yep those look ace. Just had mine fitted along with a Renegade airbox kit I got off Fleabay. I did have to alter the strap arrangement at the hanger though to bring the left can closer to the swingarm and better even up the offset.

Let's face it. The only way it's gonna look right is if you DIY.

It takes a bit of time but you can easily get them perfectly symmetrical. Remove the springs to allow you to rotate the link pipes and loosten the screw to the exhaust hangers, adjust to perfection, refit the springs tighten the bolts.

Once they have been in use for a while they wont move around any more.

In the pic the cans look turned out slightly but is just some disortion from the cheap camera.

Ant is right. Once you remove the springs and loosen the hangers, you can twist them to the right spot. If they used a gasket sealer you may have to work it loose, scrape the rest of and reapply the gasket compound. It shouldn't take more than 5 to 10 minutes to fix.

    Ditto the above.

DIY so you know it's done right, and you won't need to cringe every time you look at the back of your bike.

Are those bands fitted to the inside of the footpegs? If so, that's probably the cause of the misalignment, and if that's the case, the tech needs to be smacked upside the head!

What ever you do though make sure they clear the swing arm. I've see some really nasty scrapes where people have got it wrong

my thoughts exactly - a common mistake though.

This is the left hand side. Make sure to include the spacer supplied with the Akras.

In case you were going to ask, the hangers are by Evotech, very nice they are too and not expensive.

Got home from work today and thought I would give it a go and try and fix it myself. I think the mechanic had put the hangers on the wrong way round because after I had swapped them around and wiggled the slipon silencers about they looked like this. I think they are near enough spot on now. Thanks for all your advice on this one.

Well if he's consistently installing the hangers the wrong way 'round, I can believe that. Wotta doofus. Looks perfect now.
