So instead of riding to work, I went straight to the dealer in hopes that they can pull the codes. Anyway, thought that you might get a kick outta that.

Let us/me know what the codes were and what their "fix" is. My dealer claimed that "the" Aprilia USA tech spent 3 hours diagnosing my bike and they determined that it is a faulty air pressure sensor. Of course they are still waiting for the part to show up.

I have to agree with that.
I will keep the Shiver for a very long time but won't get another Ape unless they sort themsleves out and give us top quality customer service to match the top quality price.
I've loved various Ducatis over the decades but never bought one 'cos of their rep. But I read that Ape's were very reliable and tried really hard to ignore their parts debacle.
Next bike may well be a KTM or sommat like that.
All I know is it will be a v-twin.

No problem, I'll let you guys know what their 'fix' is. They claim that all my problems will be solved with the installation of the tri-map (yes, I still don't have this - long story, see other threads) as the dealer said that none of their other customers have had problems. Call me a skeptic but I am not holding my breath.

Great thing about this forum is that its 'reassuring' to know that I am not the only one to have issues with this.

Sick, very sick, but really funny.............

There are some really sick jokes going through my mind (but other than THOSE pictures, this is a work safe site).

Orange dog piss huh? That is sick but at the same time quite funny. Lavaspit, you sure you want to eat a dog that 'leaks' out strange colored fluids

I have friends that swear by their Aprilia's - but their powerplants were built by Rotax. Our Shiver's motors were built in house and I believe is part of the teething problems.

I think the cutting off of power would have more to do with buggy software controlling things like throttle, fuel injection etc.

Aside from a couple of oil leaks, I'm not aware of anyone that has had a problem with the engine on the Shiver. Only the ancilliaries and sensors, ECU/RBW etc.

Yup, the engine is a gem and seems very reliable.
As long as you don't include the starter thing as part of it.

Hey Nostatic, just wanted to get back to you with regards to this. As expected, they couldn't pull any error codes off the bike but did install the newest map. Just came back from a 1K 2 day trip and the bike ran flawlessly. Unfortunately when I asked what map they installed on my bike, the tech said he didn't know but mentioned something about a 'service tune-up 605'. Don't have a clue what he meant by that but am hoping that this will solve the limping problem. He mentioned that he just downloaded this map from Aprilia in the last week so maybe you can ask your mechanic about this.

    Good luck!
