Functional Bling, YES there is such a thing

The KTM guys are pretty resourceful, much like Aprilia guys when it comes to making stuff for their bikes. I like functional bling......The intakes me and repoe made, those were functional bling......So there a guy named Craig who has a 950ADV and decided he needed a better clutch cover than stock and he wanted to run a Rekluse Auto clutch so he needed a little more clearance.

He has access to CAD/CAM, good materials and is a machinist, but alot is done on automated machines.

    Before

BLING! he made them with a clear plexan lens with a Titaium outer cover and a Orange anodized aluminum base. Sweet and it adds a little clearance so a Auto clutch setup works great.

Notice the large section of titanium left across the bottom for protection from the brake lever on a side impact. Sweet.....

Now there are 4 "Cylinders" on my ride, inline of course!

Nope, because it makes room for a auto clutch, it is functional and does more than just look good. Plus, it's gotta be good for atleast 5hp!

I may just jump off the Aprilia bling train and join you with the KTM. We have a local dealer to support the brand and there is that new bike coming out........

    Auto clutch?

I knew Americans can't drive proper cars, but a motorbike without a clutch?

    Where's the fun in that?

Err - might as well get an Aprilia Mana 850 CVT, or a Gilera Nexus GP 800 scooter!

Still of the opinion that automatics are for handicapped people, and those that constantly sit in a traffic jam (and hence, would be better off taking the tube, a tramway or the train instead).

Although, 300mls of Alpine twisties do batter your clutch hand a little - despite an MPL clutch slave on my Falco

    Cool

Not bling, just functional. I made these with hacksaw and file for a mate's KTM Superduke. He can't bend his leg properly after he crashed his last SD so I made him these peg lowers.

    And hey Carlos: they're BILLET.

I hope you come well upholstered with your own seat padding - I sat on a few KTMs at our national bike show last year and most of them seemed about as hard as a slab of granite - and, trust me, I'm not one of those that complains about seat comfort.
I think the RC8 might have been a bit better than some of the others I tried.

Heaven forbid we should get Carlos so excited at the thought you may require a thorough massage after half an hour in the saddle

    BEF?! Holy $h1T...is that YOU?!?!?
    Where you been hiding??
    ...those look like GIlles Pegs??....

Oh - and BIll...I'm trying to find someone that makes a clear clutch plate cover for the Rotax....there's a guy in Germany on the forum named Uli that works for MPL -- but to date, they've not completed their planned production of this piece. (thanks go_go...)

I want to show-off my STM Slipper....it's really too nice a piece of engineering to hide behind a solid clutch plate!

    BLING-BLING!

Since it was highly recommended, I put THEGEEK on ignore and the forum IS a much nicer place!!

If you have ever raced off road and especially in the tight, twisty trail, arm pump and precise clutch work is a definite. Auto clutches apply perfect clutch work so you can concentrate on picking the best line and reduces arm pump by a factor of 50% or more. Now the bigger the bike (both power and weight) the more these effects are imparted to the pilot! Trust me, auto clutches are awesome. The perch is still there and you can use it manually if you like. The auto clutch also allows you to run a gear higher and you actually can ride slightly faster and pick better lines.....

Nope there not for sissies. Now for full on street bikes and sport bikes, yeah, not needed and I wouldn't put one on, but Revloc will take any clutch pack and make it a auto for you. But I like the Rekluse due to the manual override ability.

KTM is about as mainstream as any brand in the US now. There are bunches of good dealers. Parts are easy to get form numerous places online that give you good discount prices. There designs are tight and the bikes are well made. Very much like aprilia in that they use the same switch gear, fasteners and components like brakes and stuff. Well made and well thought out. I love aprilia and I will have another in the future I am sure, but I have been a KTM guy for the last 21 years!

    Dude...you said ARM-PUMP....!!

*Seriously - I'm jealous....I don't understand why it's so hard to build a piece like this for the clutch cover for the rotax?? It's not high-pressure or anything....it just needs to seal to the casing and hold the oil-in, which is mostly accomplished by the GASKET anyway!!! *
