    2Stroke, what to believe?

Ok, I always let my RX50 idle for 1minute before reving it..

But a mate of mine says it's not good for 2strokes to idle for too long.

But this cant be true, since many RS250 riders let their bikes idle for about 5minute, when they show "Cold" on the display..

So what is the truth? Is it better to let it idle for 1minute, or just rev it right away?

    Cheers!

its best to keep it revving but its not harmful to idle. if your warming it up you start it and let it idle for about 10 seconds then rev it a little bit to about 4-6k then when its warming up more rev it more if you want.

i always go into the garage, start the bike up then wheel it out, turn it around and put my helmet, jacket and gloves on then rev it. It gives it chance to warm up, which is much better than starting it and then just riding it. You could rev it a little (upto like 6k or whatever) to clear then engine, but i can't see whats harmful about it idling.

Nope not supposed to idle well. Best to rev it to warm it up.

the only problem with a 2 stroke idling for a long time is that its more likely to foul the plug, and plenty of unburnt oil will end up in the expansion chamber and itll take a while to either push it out or burn it off.
