Both bikes are super and the power is really on. Getting the 2008 is the right choice in either bike. Get the bike you think you can best ride and enjoy. Follow your gut feeling. It will usually lead you in the right direction. Ride within your limits and enjoy.

Are going to ride street or track? I would get the 450 for track and 550 for street.
Sorry to cause confusion but I think you should get the 550 if you plan on riding it on the track. IMO I would want more power on the track. MAKE SURE your dealer sets the bike up right and make sure you read the threads on this forum. I cant stress doing your research anymore then that.

i think im probably goin to be doin more "street"/"stunting"... im from wisconsin, i stunt crf50s but not on a professional level... im just no t sure what would fit my needs better i know ryan moore rides a 450 but i am goin for some mpgs too cause my super duty really doesnt get that good of mileage
I am not sure what you need for stunting but i chose the 550 for the fact that having that bit more power makes up for my lack of experience. You can cover your mistakes a bit easier without dropping a gear.
Dont expect great mpg's!
Ryan Moore has binned his 450. There is a thread here form him that you might be interested in. http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/s...d.php?t=146816

I took my 450 out today for a 170km road ride with some mates and it did fine!
It's got a 16t front sprocket and a 48t rear on it at the moment and made $1.76 on one of the straights so its definately not lacking in speed!
But for my money its heaps better as a track bike!![]()
i sent you a pm.
what kind of mileage do these things get?
f350bart,
Where to you plan to buy the bike? I'm in the Chicago area and was just wondering dealer you were going through. There aren't many in the area and only one good one, Corse Superbikes in Saukville. They do good service work on Aprilia's, but don't usually stock any in the showroom.

its called dgy aka downers grove yamaha
They're not far from where I live. They are a new Aprilia dealer as of about 6-8 months ago I think. They usually don't deal at all on their bikes, so let me know what they quote you OTD for a 550.
However, with these bikes it seems it is extremely important to have them set up right from the dealer to avoid some of the problems. For this reason I would give AF1 an opportunity at the business even though it might cost me a little more upfront. At least I know it would be set up right from the beginning. I don't think you will get that from DGY simply because of their lack of experience with the brand and bike.

MY RXV 450 gets about 27-28 MPG. I have a 12 liter tank that gets me 84 miles total.

well the deed is done, i got the bike earlier today... what a fun bike jumps like a champ on my pit bike track but when i tried wheelies i really wasnt impressed, is this something to do with break in time or are they just low end pooches?
