If the clutch is slightly pulled in then problem goes away???

If so the the side stand switch is acting up and probably mispositioned. Dismout it and check the position of the tit. Better yet nypass and try.

Also there is a tilt sensor that may be a contributor.
I also had a relay dangling around on the left side under the seat cowl. It was causing my bike to hiccup.

    .

Just kidding about selling the bike.

On education I find electrical probelms can be tricky. Most people ignore the obvious and think in terms of mysterious gremlins. Understanding the system is fist before questions.

Also, check the sensor switch in the clutch perch. That is where mine faulted from. Same thing----I was riding down the road at speed, had been out for 4 hours and it was raining most of the day. FInally cruising along and EFI started flashing with diminished power. When I stopped, the bike would idle fine and my display would come back to mormal with temp in the right side, but as soon as I started moving, it started with flashing EFI again. We were 40 miles from the MITM base ops, so I decided to limp it back. I "happened" to let my finger sit on the perch and as soon as I pulled the clutch lever in enough to activate the switch but not engage the clutch, EFI cleared up and the bike ran normal. So for 30+ miles I rode with the clutch lever in some. Got back, sprayed the sensor with WD-40 (yes really) and it all cleared up. Water had gotten into the clutch perch switch and was causing it to short.........Never had a problem again.

OK, went away for bank holiday weekend in cage, first chance to test diag mode was today (temps at 22c+ down here!!!), ran bike for 30 minutes in diag mode:

    Nothing, nada!

Turned of diag mode and took her for a 3 hour run and the problem hasn't reappeared! Must have been water in the works somewhere. Next time is happens though I will catch it and let all know...

I think your gremlin hopped over to my bike. Started happening to me at a trackday a few weeks ago, and happened again today on the first ride after the trackday. Clutch switch doesn't seem to be the culprit, and the bike hasn't been wet in months. Looks like I get to go gremlin hunting...

There is also the one sensor that is located down on the right lower front of the motor, think it's the oil pressure switch. It is exposed (under the fairings) to dirt and water etc. I had a second time with this mystery EFI flashing and it was the connections to that sensor had gotten really dirty and mucked up. Cleaned them off and was good to go!

Thanks for clarifying that one! I'd read about an EFI sensor somewhere down there, but all I could see was the oil pressure sensor. I'll check those connections tonight.

Man, you really have to be patient with DIAG mode... After getting no error codes, I checked pretty much every connection in the "mystery EFI" threads, and tested the diode block with no luck. Finally this morning, I just let it run in DIAG for a while. It finally threw up a code for the #2 rear ignition coil.

After hours of hunting, it turns out it was just a loose connection on that coil. Well, at least it was a cheap fix!
