Trying to top of the s500 with gas??

Does anyone else have a difficult time filling up the gas tank? Is their a special way to do it. I cant seem to get the tank full, The gas meter never gets to the top and after driving 20 miles with the gas light on, I could only put in 3.5 gallons. Is it just me.

FYI here in Honolulu 87 is $3.57

NOPE, Not just you! Im sure most get this fight--I have done a "ODD" thing that gets me by, I had a old camping water container sitting in my shed, Hold's about 1/2 gallon-I stuck it in the Pannier and had some water for running around but I never used it so one time at the pump I filled it with (GAS) Then used it to top off my tank, Now I go as far as the tank fills and then just fill the jug and top off my gas--Works good for me but is a little hokey, Still a Option....

If the fill hole was a little further back it would help a lot as the seat is in the way and it makes it difficult to see the fill hole. I do not have a problem with mine but I put the fuel nozzle in and run it real slow. It takes a while this way but I can get the tank filled all the way up.

Works perfect. Fill up until it clicks the first time, put your hand on top of the gas tank and feel the lower tank filling up and bubles coming up, fill again until it clicks again... You are done.

My McCuff is missing! I had such a hard time before (After Posting about it) that I was not going to be the one bringing it up this time. Now I am just a HoKey guy waiting to blow up...

I tried the McCuff and found it very difficult to use because the filler neck has a divider in it. That, plus the nozzle diameter is too small and it lets the 'Cuff slide around on the nozzle, possibly covering that little hole in the nozzle.

I think it is a great idea, but I believe it is designed for the pumps that have the gaiter on it that prevents you from topping off the tank. In this case it would work very, very well and I would have one in every vehicle.

Here in the wheatfields, we haven't "progressed" that far yet.

Here in the futuristic state of South Carolina we have the regular gas pumps too. All you have to do is trim the Mcuff with a razor blade to fit your Beo and you are done. A very easy fix.

Any reason not to remove that annoying divider??

I have a McCuff, but find that the divider makes it hard to use. I have thought about snipping it out with garden shears. Can anyone think of a reason not to?

I wouldn't. It must be there for some structural reason.
I simply cut two slots in my McCuff to fit over the dividers. Works well.

it is funny, a warning label usually seen next to the pump or tank cap says "never top off the gas"

that little more gas wouldn't take you too much further. don't be silly.

04-06 Scarabeo 500 are a pain in the a$$ to fill up to the correct level, maybe gas pumps in Italy are different? 07's like yours should be different.

I don't think it is silly to want to fill up a tank to its full capacity. I think its silly that you have to go thru so much crap just to do it. Maybe they do have a different type of gas filler. Oh well I guess thats one of the unique things about our scooter's that gives it character
