Problem

i done 110 mile and so far this has happened 3 times, ill be riding along and all of a sudden ill loose all power in the engine it just stops and some times cuts out. Then i start it again and its fine. Any idea what would be causing it?

it happened twice on steep hills and once a slight hill.

how much fuel did you have in the tank?
if its only on hills then the petrol could be going to the back of the tank and not getting sucked into the carb, this happens on mine sometimes, just switch it onto reserve when you come to a steep hill and it should be alright.

I got the new style RS so there aint a reserve but the first time i was on a slight hill with a 1/2 tank so dno.

Well, what about the theory that your driving DOWN a very steep hill at 12000RPM!!! And your piston is getting so hot so fast that it expands and get's stuck in the cylinder which makes you loose all power, becouse the engine aint moving

Na i dont think thats the problem, been down loads of hills at 12k for a period of time and the bike just starts agen as soon as i press the ignition.

i had the same problem with my yamaha yz85, i tried all sorts of things to find out what was wrong

in the end i got a new spark plug and the problem never happened again after i put a new plug in

I think your talking about a heat sizure but i dont think he will be able to start the bike if that happens.

Could be dodgy plug.
Sometimes they can break down under compression.

It is more than likely to be fuel related so have a wee tink about.
How do the chokes on these new shape RS's work? Where is the lever?
Choke could be slipping on or somit daft like that.

OR it could be a break down in a coil, but if its a new bike i wouldnt think so.

If it isonly happeningon hills, it could just be all the petrol runs to the back off the tank.
And im pretty sure there will be a reserve position on your bike.

doesnt matter how long ago you put it in
ive had new plugs straight out of the box that are fucked
a plug would be the easyest big to change if you have no luck trying anything else

Try a plug, it's most likely your piston rings.
