Brown Connector Problem - Yes, we are affected

Michael B I think you have a second plug. My voltage was all over the place (13.8to 14.1) before I fixed my fried plug. After the fix ,my voltage was a steady 14.3 v. The first plug look good on mind too. Second one was fried. My #256 is close to yours. Check for a second plug!

Yep I stopped after a high speed run and stinky smoke was coming from my bike. When I saw that brown goo dripping from the bottom, I knew exactly what it was

07.5 built in Scorze, one connector, looks fine so far. I'll check this regularly as I've had some of the other issues materialize (like the coolant hose being damaged by the plastics).

2007 US (2006-Euro) #163. Single connector down behind the coolant recovery bottle- lookin' good at 1600 miles. Rerouted the wires and connector away from the lower engine block out towards the front of the recovery tank- away from engine heat- and where it's readily visible without removing plastic "beauty" covers and recovery tank. Also packed both sides of connector with dielectric(sp?) grease. Gonna keep a close eye on this possible problem area...

Yes, I have two connectors. Both are fine... for now.

Thanks to this thread I kept watching my T for the brown problem.
And yes, today was B(rown) day. Not as ugly as some of the victims in this thread but with my broken dynamo still in my mind...

Same for me. I measured the voltage and it's a solid 14.3v so it looks like I'm OK for now but will keep an eye on it.

Coming from the Futura forum where the brown connector problem is well known.
As far as I know, after soldering the crimped contacts in the brown connector, no one has reported melted connector after that.

Just an alternative for those who want to keep the connector.

Has anyone at all (either side of the Atlantic) had this problem back to their dealer under warranty?

So many posts on this, but nothing about the cure that Aprilia are (or should be)applying. If anyone has had the repair done under warranty, was it just a simple replacement or is there an improved / modified part fitted?

Had a butchers at mine since she is getting a spring clean. Can only find one brown connector which is located near the reg. Did some digging around but can't see another one anywhere. Will have a look at the voltage and see what I find, hopefully I might not be affected.

Had a butchers and mine is holding bang on 14.34 volts. Makes up for my magnetic wheels.
