Got a 2009. Should I be worried about this?

The newer bikes do have one of the brown connectors at the voltage regulator so they are effected as well.

    See the very first post.

thanks kzmille. Saw the post but keep reading conflicting info. Could the connector failing cause my ECU error issues? Or is it safe to assume my ECU has failed?

I wouldn't think so but am not so familiar with gen 2 error codes.

My 2007 Factory has 20k miles on it, OE stator and no issues with the brown connector. I asked the PO before I bought it about those particular areas and he said they are stock. He said he "siliconed" the brown connector. I'm not 100% sure what he meant, but it's working.

The proof is, as always, in the charging voltage.

I've been checking it periodically, it's been on point every time.

Very informative, thank you. Looking at my bike the mod has been done already as the wires are soldered next to the rectifier. The wires are all heavy gage black coming fron the stator. Does that mean the stator has been replaced? It's an '07 that I'm trying to figure out some issues with.
