Engine bogs down at low RPM

I've had my Falco for a few months now and have a few questions for the forum. I bought the bike used and don't know much about it other than it has been de-restricted. Now, the bike has stock exhaust and as far as I know does not have a chip or anything else. My issue is that at low RPM (less than 4000) the engine bogs down when I try to accelerate and makes noises like my engine is misfiring. It sounds kind of like a car engine does when you have bad gas or water in the tank and try to accelerate from low RPM. At RPM's above 4000, the engine pulls strong , did I say strong? I mean STRONG!!!!! Does anyone else have that same issue?
It almost seems like the airbox has been modified and is larger than stock.

I am glad u brought this topic. I have a 02 Falco R. I bought this a 4 months ago... 6500 miles on the clock. When riding at slow speed, like 35mph or less.... my bike does the same thing too. I think I started noticing this after I de-restricted it. Cant remember if I had it b4. BTW, I have the RSC chip and pipes.

Anyone out there think this is normal?? Any solutions??

    A Pretty Common Problem

What you are both describing is a common issue with the Falco. The easiest solution is to raise the idle adjustment. Turn the knob on the right side of the fuel tank and run the idle at about 1750-1800rpm. Please note: you should adjust the idle after the engine is good and warm. Start the bike, let it warm, ride it a few blocks, and then reset the idle.

Another problem with the Aprilia's in general is the tightness of the throttle cables. The throttle on my Falco was so tight that it was very hard to go on/off throttle smoothly(especially at low revs/speeds). Do not adjust the throttle cable yourself unless you are VERY careful and very comfortable with bike tweaking.

If your bikes were extensively modifed with derestriction, exhaust, airbox, and other mod's, you may need to run an upgraded chip(see previous posts).

    Ride safe.

Get the throttle bodies synced, check them with a 4-gas analyzer if you can. Richening up the idle mixture screws might help.
