I own a 2003 Atlantic with 2750 miles on the odometer. In great shape with a GIVI aftermarket windscreen. I'll let it go for $4500. It's dark blue...no mechanical problems

Love the scoot...but I have a chance to buy a Burgman. The Burgman has a better dealer network and parts are available everywhere. Aprilia is really not in this game here in the States and after hearing that a south Florida dealer is giving up on them...I'm done. If you know anyone looking, this bike is a cherry. Price slightly negotiable as well.
U live in MD and a dealer in FL decides under pressure from Honda to stop carrying Aprilia you quit. What a pussy!
FYI, Honda has program called Honda Performance Dealer, if you become only Honda as a dealer you get better allocation on short supply product and extra marketing funds. Honda wants all their dealers to be Honda only, same with BMW and Yamaha.
I know another dealer that wants Aprilia here in FL but Honda makes it to hard to pick up another brand so he is building another shop just for Aprilia/KTM and Triumph.
The dealer I have bought from in KC is both a Yamaha and Aprilia dealer. Talk to the owner he'll tell you that all along this was his plan. His business model is predicated upon having the Yamaha AND Aprilia brand. He has Mille's and Futuras and Caponords in as well so perhaps that helps him reach the numbers he wants with Aprilia.
Yamaha may not like it but he has lit signage outside on a pole as well as the building for Aprilia right alongside Yamaha.
I'm beginning to really feel lucky to have these guys in KC.
Mybug....Foxy is right...in fact, the dealership where I had purchased my 500(now traded in), as well as the dealership in Md are both dropping the Aprilia and Ducati lines next year....go figure...

The only dealer I know of in the Maryland area is Motostrada, and they have no intentions of dropping Aprilia. They used to be a Vespa repair and restore shop and decided to add Aprilias as their 'real cycle' line. The other cycles they sell are mostly 2 stroke scooters (http://www.motostrada.com)
what is top speed of burgman 650? hauling how much weight?

I visited Motostrada yesterday and they're great guys.
They are about 60 miles from where I live and it's difficult to get up there. it does appear however that they are committed to the line and that they'll be around.
Just got back from a long ride on my scoot and I must admit it's a great bike. Probably will re-think my sell decision. Frankly I'm not happy about all the negative press about Aprilia on this forum and from riders I meet.
Rode the Burgman and it's very large, not as pretty and does not handle as well as the Atlantic. Where are you?
I'm up in the Randallstown / Owings Mills area. I bought my 500 at Motostrada, and while I never liked the idea of just one dealer in the area, they did seem committed to the Aprilia line.
Forums often produce negative press.. Why? Because the main reason people come here is if they are having a problem! Of course, they also come to share improvements, ask about aftermarket goodies, meet up with other riders, just bullsht about the bikes, etc. But still, the biggest reason people come is to help fix a problem.
Hence, most posts are going to be about problems, and it might look like there are lots more problems out there than there really are. Also, things feed on each other, and all of a sudden a bike has a 'reputation' for a certain problem, when really it may only affect a small percentage of owners.
Just go outside, sit on the bike, and think, "Is this what I really want?" I find that with my aprilia, the answer is always, "yes." If you find that it isn't yes, then sell it.
You can always find a dealer. The aprilia dealer network isn't huge, but it isn't small either. If one dealer drops the line, another will pick it up, to cash in on the people in the area who own aprilias, and want aprilias.
peace,
sam
Hi Everybody,
I just did a 350 mi yesterday on my Atlantic 500 here in Florida and I have some observations:
1. This bike is great. It tours as well as any BMW. I know because I have had 2.
2. It has great power for a Maxi Scooter and good power for a motorcycle. I rode 2 up with my wife.
3. It is comfortable. I think it has the best seat around as of now.
4. It is a great handling machine on real roads twisty and straight. I compare it to my Honda Vfr 800. I know this will raise eyebrows.
I have had Fuel Injection problems when I first got mine. It was taken care of by the dealer under warranty and since then I have no problems at all in 6000 mi.

I will not part with mine for the above reasons plus it is the only MAxi in the USA with an Italian character.![]()

They seem like really good guys there at Reno's. I think that having Yamaha and Aprilia is a good matchup. I think lots of folks assume Aprilia is a premium brand, but in the 1000cc arena, I feel like Aprilia is pretty price competitive with everyone else. So it's kind of cool because you can draw folks in with Yammie who think that the Japanese make the only real sport bikes and then they find some Italian ones that are competitive with the Japanese bikes in every department, and in my opinion win out on style by not looking quite so insectile.Originally posted by mybug
