Which Tuono's are best-early or late model?

I know I'm posting this in a section for 2002-2005 bikes and might be expecting a slightly biased answer but if you could afford a late model tuono would you buy one? or do you just prefer the shape and character of the earlier models. I ask this question because i LOVE the RSV's and my recent bikes were a Blackbird and now a Pan Euro st1100 which I already decided is not for me

I've had a 2000 Mille in 'flashy yellow' with lots of upgrades followed by a Vtec but when er indoors decided she "didn't want to be pillion after all" i bought a lovely RSVR again with tastefull mods. Now i was more than happy with this bike (except for slow riding 'killing' my neck and wrists) but i was seduced into selling it by being offered a mint 'busa from a mate. I duly sold my R got the cash together within 1 week and phoned the 'MATE' to pick up his 'busa and he turned off the phone and informed me by text later that he had "sold it last night"

I could have fucking killed him there and then

I had it out with him in a bike shop about a week later and left everyone in the shop in no doubt about how much of a cunt i thought he was

Anyway i rang the guy who just bought my R and offered him MORE than he paid me for it and he wouldn't sell it back to me (i don't blame him as it was worth about £500-£1000 more than i took off him for the quick sale) and he still won't

On the rebound i bought the Blackbird (never liked it) and then decided to act my age (53) and got the pan, I have been on it a few times and have realised what a mistake I've made, it just isn't for me

I miss the thunderous sound of the V-twin with a decent pipe, I miss the attention to detail that the Aprilia's enjoy and I can honestly say I have never had the bird or the pan up on the 'workbench' to work on them or clean or polish them.

When I had my RSV and then my RSVR i spent hours in the garage cleaning, polishing, spending hours just LOOKING at the damn things, i even put a heater in there to keep them warm for the winter months but i have no feelings for any other bikes.

I never took a shine to the newer shape RSV's so i always looked for good examples of the earlier models and i still think that way with the RSV's

But I quite fancy the Tuono in the 07 blue livery, does anyone else have any thoughts on wether the early or latest Tuono's are the better buy as I like them BOTH.

I have a friend with an 07 Tuono in the black/grey scheme, and I think it looks great, although I'm a bit cold on some of the front "fairing" details. I love that the stock exhaust is symmetrical also, and for a stock setup, it sounds really good "on-song".

That said, I prefer the look of the gen 1 in most paint schemes (with 07 or CRG mirrors), and the wind protection is probably a lot better, which means more miles of fun w/o fatigue, especially with my ZG screen.

Thats one thing I noticed on the 07, the screen is almost 'non-existant' even with the optional fitting of an after market 'so called taller one' but i agree that i like the twin pipe looking more 'balanced' and I suppose there will be a lot more accesories and spares available for the gen 1's

This is going to be a bit biased as you would expect. But I looked at the new Gen 2 very carefully before deciding to buy a NOS '05 Tuono Factory for the same price. To be quite honest the build quality on the Gen 2 is a little suspect. For example the plastics are cheap and flex when pressed. The instrument cluster looks like a top notch MM version as found on the RSV-R, but is actually a cheap knock off (wear polarized sunglasses and you can't even see the instruments , not to mention the water infiltration and fogging problems). If it was me I would look for a nice, unmolested Gen 1, preferably a Racing or Factory that has already had the necessary upgrades like pipes, PCIII, screen etc installed.

T B Honest, I like the polished frame on the second Gen Tuono, and the dual pipes as well. But that front fairing! I still don't think it looks or works right.

I have ridden both, Stock the newer bike revs quicker, and lofts the front a little easier.

Ill keep my 1st Gen factory, with Taller MRA screen, Dual Akras, thanks!

I bought my GEN1 TUONO FACTORY brand new just as the Gen2 was coming out, so i could of had that model, but come on, the GEN1 has lots more character & beastly great looks & without doubt its the best bike that i've ever owned. & I LOVE IT.

I am absolutely certain you have done the right thing! I can't begin to tell you how much every one of my riding buddies have made a + comment on the new look of my bike. I think you have to be an Aprilia addict to "get" the blue wheels.

I really need a sunny day photo, and Gloss Black looks best when the the fuel tank is in view. Yellow Marchisini wheel label ties in with the yellow on the bike in an Italian way. This will have to do:

Got to admit never been a real fan of the tuono looks, like the bird with the rough face but body of angel you know its going to be good, had four gixxer thous proper mad but its only a matter of time, had sp2 and was hooked on the V twin but ached like fook tried the mk2 tuono and havin a blast!!!
