What kind of bike is it? It will be easiest to get a few friends and stick a baseball bat into the front wheel and lift while someone else steadies the back.

Do you have access to a furniture dolly? Just drop the locked wheel on one of those and shove away.

A good locksmith should be able to do it, but they're hard to find these days. You will probably have to at the least, pull the ignition lock cylinder or take the triples off.

I had a similar prob with a salvage KTM I bought, they key had broken off in the ignition and no spare to be had.
If you look under the ignition, its held in place with two antitamper bolts, they look like blind rivets but they are actually bolts. The head twists off when they tighten it up the first time. I cut a slot into the exposed bit and used a screw driver to undo it...as the man says, you may need to undo the top triple clamp to get there.

Once off, I took it to my local lock smith and he cut me a new key...well a couple keys actually. If your locksmith cant cut a new key and insists are putting in a new barrel, be sure to get the seat lock and tank filler cap changed out too...proper pain in the arse.....oh and by the, where the f@ck are the pics of your new project?? Dont make me come over there...

    Inquiring Minds

Again, what kind of bike? Aprilia presumably. Any details?

I spent many years working at a Honda dealer and like many other manufacturers, they used to stamp the key number under the ignition switch. That number can be used to cut a new key. BTW, the ignition, helmet lock and gas cap are usually "keyed alike."

I liked Shane1's idea of pulling the upper triple clamp. That makes it a manageable problem.

    FYI~

Many times the ignition lock is has more cuts in it for added security, and while the ignition key will operate the gas/helmet locks if you cut the key off of them it might not work in the ignition.

    Keys for bikes

There's an article in the the most recent Motorcyclist Magazine (from the US) I have, where a staffer bought a damaged 999 on e-bay with a missing key issue.

They found someone wo could sort their missing key problem for $20 and published the details of the locksmith - apparently these 999 keys were supposed to be Mega-Expensive (and Mega-Difficult) to replace, but the guy they used did it no problem, in no time.

Sorry, haven't got the Mag to hand to give more info but I think it's the latest issue.
    Cheers,

One thing that came to mind. Make sure you either have the Gas Cap and seat lock re-keyed to the new key, or buy a complete set (one key for all three parts).

If this is a track only bike, then you can replace the gas cap with a twist-off one and won't need to worry about the rear seat.
