    What does the bike weigh and what did you do to the motor to get it to beat the 1098's??

I always get the feeling that to ride a Tuono you have to be a real man, prepared to fight it every step of the way, where as on the Triumph you can have an off day and not be left feeling inadequate"

    @titan907

    Thanks, nice to hear!

    @Beau1K

    Dry weight is 155kg and 156hp at the wheel.
    Ok less than a proper 1098, but first you have to bring the power down.
    Damian Cudlin did a great job and knows how to do!
    When we looked at the datas he is so exact on throttle and braking, no wheel in the air, no locking - great to see how smooth he can go so quick.

    To be honest in Assen, which is much more quicker we loose time against the 1098R.

    But in my opinion, who of us normal guys is able to bring more power down at the corner exit. If i look on the time scheduels of the trainings we participate only a few guys with the strong 1000er or big Ducs are quicker than the 600er racers.

    @k-style
    Yes we are thinking to do this, but when i locked to the pics in other threads the new aprilia looks realye small and interesting.

    We will see whats coming next

    156 naturally-aspirated wheel hp out of a rotax v990?!?! on something that light! Very impressive! What all is done with the engine to create that hp? Whats torque output?

    Grats on the win, and very impressive machine you've created there!

    Any video footage?

    I am stunned by this bike. Work of art.

    Engine info off their site:

    The KALEX AV1 uses an V2 - V990R engine of Rotax.
    His 60 cylinder angle and the dry sump enables a compact package with a centralisation of weight.

    D The engine was tuned by our partner Amann Motorradtechnik up to 1100ccm by increasing the bore associated with new pistons from 97mm to 102mm. Throttle bodies with 60mm inlet per cylinder, spezial carbon inlet trumpets, shower injectors, an powerfull fuel pump in combination with an sensitve regualtor bolt in a CNC machined housing provides perfect mixture preparation. Set up the MOTEC M800 engine control unit regarding our purpose we gained maximum power of 163PS at 9500 U/min with maximum torque of 126 Nm at 7500 U/min.

    These values allow, for a bike of this weight class, in any driving situations a perfect balanced and impressive acceleration.

    Just finished reading an interview with Damian Cudlin in the Australian AMCN magazine. Here's a short extract:

    "In 2008, I also scored a role as a development rider for the German Kalex company which needed help with its AV1 motorcycle. This proved to be a great job and the crew was brilliant to work for. They were very organised, had a good methodical approach and paid exactly on time, something that is rare in most race teams".

    Good to see more positive PR for you guys.
