We use used condoms and syringes and the occasional shaved cat.

Dont use steel wool, it will make the sound harsh and NASTY.

Just get some good quality sports bike muffler packing.

I use a combo of the packing sheets, which I roll around the core and lockwire into place, then the loose packing. But the stuff that is realy long threads so they wont blow out.
Just spoke to my dealer, he has some of the DEP matting - is that good? Hope so cos I'm on my way to pick it up in an hour!
Gonna grab 4 packs at $10 each

He said its unusual to be packing a 4 stroke, normally you only use it for a 2 stroke.. and then I told him I'm coring my exhaust and will be putting the packing around the perf tube to dampen the sound a bit, and he said nah that won't help ya

Hmm does he know what he's talking about?

I'm pretty sure that he has no clue as to what he's talking about.....

For clarification take a print out of the Akropovic service kit (in the "shop" parts pages) and ask him to explain why the Akropovic service kit has a sheet of Glass matting if it's so not required.

    He's a dumbass.

99.9% of motorcycle dealership employees talk useless crap.

4-strokes need packing, and 4-strokes require repacking. People are often just too lazy to do it.

Yes, 2-strokes require it quite often because of the oil too.
    2005 RSV1000R
    - Cored Slip-ons
    - Dark double bubble windscreen
    - Gearing change
    - High flow filter

I cored my exhaust and its louder than I would prefer for street riding. I left the cats in place. Does anybody know where I could look into getting some removable baffles, like the screw in ones on the akra pipes? Does anybody sell generic db killers?

if any of you are interested, I have replaced my exhaust with a full system and I am willing to part with my OEM pipes with headers for
    $150 + shipping from PA.

the left pipe has some scratches the right is perfect. If anyone is interested let me know & I will post up some pictures (too lazy to go do it without interest)
