    Infineon (Sears Point) Track Day

Did my first track day on my RS last Friday... Loved it- very different than my 600RR- getting used to the GP shift and the need for mucho corner speed was fun. The bike was on rails! There was a very nice RSW, but the guy did not run it- see the pics. A Honda RS was killing it in the A group though. Any suggestions on post track day maintenance? Planning on changing the oil, and am going to open the power valve covers to clean them. Also- I had a little coolant in the lower fairing (less than a tablespoon) do you think I have a pin hole in the radiator?

Your bike looks sharp. And that RSW looks bad arse with an exhaust under the seat and one on the side. Too bad those things are so expensive.

So how'd you get used to mucho cornerspeed being needed?

I drag race there once a year and I always wish I had one of my bikes with me, the track looks to be loads of fun.

    Great bikes, great pics !

You might put a support from the seat to the silencers. The exhaust will crack if you keep running it like you do I'm afraid....

    Looks Like Fun

Sears Point always looked like a fun track. I've been there multiple times and even rode shotgun for 3 fast laps in a Ferrari, but never rode a track day. The elevation changes and twists look among the funnest I've seen, but the Haskovic incident has sort of marred it for me.

Any idea what kind of top speed you could pull? 120MPH? I'm reviving my RS and may do another track day soon. I'd be looking at hose clamps for your source of water. Maybe even the cap. I noticed the rubber around my injector bottle switch has shrunk causing it to leak. My bike needs a good once over.

    Great pics !

I assume you had a lot of fun !!
The RSW is awesome and the Honda RS aswell, as the matter of fact, this sunday I'll be having a Trackday here in Estoril/Portugal, this time with the Honda RS 250R.

Last time in October I took the Aprilia RS and was fun aswell, but not quite the same as the Honda obviously .. lol

I've made 125 mph with the Aprilia in Estoril, with 13 - 42 .. and braking early..
The Honda I don't know because it doesn't have speedo, but in 5th the rev counter goes to 14 000 and in 6th about 12 800 rpm.. stock transmission

Thanks- Yep I will be going through the whole bike, I do want to find that leak.. I love the Taichi leathers.. I think Kevin Schwanz wore them back in the day.. I topped out at no more than 110 mph on the longest straight, but they changed the front so it is not a really high speed track- I will probably change my gearing when I go back though. The hills and downhill sweeper were great- Anyone notice the tail section on the RSW? I would prefer a solid tail with foam... that one was nice carbon fiber- Does anyone make one for the RS? I could probably make one if I got a new tail, and made sure that there is still a way to remove the gas tank quickly.

Nice pics!!!! The Aprilia belongs to Balz Renggli. He rode it to a 4th place finish in the Roadracing World 250/50 a couple months ago. Sweet bike!

Corner speed--- was tricky because I was dumping it into the turn and trying to power out like on the 600rr.. after emberassing myself a few times by bogging and taking too long to get back into the power band... and talking to my buddy who was watching and playing coach- I just changed my approach, kept the revs and the speed up, and really focused on rolling on the throttle the second I started the turn- It did not hurt that I had fairly new Dunlop KR108 soft slicks.. I probably could have pushed a lot harder since I did not feel it get squirrley at all. I was very stoked for my first time on that bike and on that track to be passing more than getting passed specially when there were a lot of 1000's etc.. There is a track day at Laguna this Friday... wish I could play hookey and check that track out!

I've been riding mine for a year now and still ride it like a 4-stroke like you're saying. Every now and then I think to myself "you're freakin riding it like your old 916 stupid". I really wish there was a magical formula to start riding it correctly. I'm surprised you adapted so quickly. Did you do a fair share of passing in the turns?

Yes he is a fast rider and its a sweeeeeeeeet bike. Its on display at his shop in Escondido. Its called MotoForza. Nice shop too.

Went on a group ride with him a couple of weeks back, although it was a very mild pace canyon ride, you could just tell the guy hauls ass. He would be gone in an instant if he wanted too. He was also on a Duc GT1000 as well, not some crazy superbike or anything spectacular.

85% of passing in the turns.. I got a few guys on the brakes- but really that came from allowing myself a faster entry speed into the turn so I guess it is the same thing.. There is this one huge downhill left sweeper (the carousel) that I just loved though.. many of my victims were left behind there.. To be fair I was in the B- group though so I really should talk more smack once I can pass a bunch in A or B...
Any ideas on the tail section? A bit of carbon fibre from TAP Plastics and an old tail section?
