As far as I'm concerned you've done your part. I hadn't seen that flasher unit yet. Nice to know there is a source other than mail order. CamDLux was just looking for one. Now we know

o.k.,o.k.......dumb kid at the back of the class again.
i was reviewing this thread and have a question. once this mod is done and someone wishes to built their own "nooj" LED setup, would you still install the resistors on the circuit board along with the LEDs? or has this been taken care of with the dashboard mod?

    talk amongst yourselves.

The dashboard mod is to make the LED's work properly because we have only one dash light and without the diodes, a LED setup doesn't work.

W/r to the resistors you have 2 choices. Either mount the resistors on the PCB along with the LED's or take the easy route and buy LED's with the resistors built in. They cost a bit more but make life a lot easier with a lot less soldering

I've just dun this modification and very gud it is too.

If yer based in the UK sourcing the exact same flasher unit is a problem, but I bought a product from Mobile Centre www.mobilecentre.co.uk

I bought a flasher relay, 2 pin rated to 30W but it didn't work! Spoke to a really helpful guy called Tim at mobilecentre who advised that I needed to swap the plugs over on the wiring harness (the ones that attach to the 2 pins marked L and B on the relay) and hey presto! A working low load indicator circuit. They can also supply relays that do not require you to swap the wires over (my fault as I bought it without checking the pin layout).

If you contact Tim at mobilecentre.co.uk he'll do you the flasher with a free set of diodes thrown in. It cost me 17 squid including VAT and postage

I have just installed the LEDs on my RSV, all four of them flash at the correct rate .but the problem all 4 of them flash together. Is there an idiots way of fixing this without having to touch the wiring harness?

Resistors in series?? ( not that i know what that means, being a carpenter I dont really touch electricity, all i know is that electricity is blue and it hurts if you touch it)

    thanks

    Tim

Having gone the resistors path I'n now doing the dash-wire mod. This thread is quite clear on how to do it. My advice is you also do this diode mod.

Wiring should be exactly the same. I've done the mod and used a Mille wiring diagram to do it and it all good.

Can't you just stick an led bulb in the dash and replace the original flasher unit with an led flasher unit?

No. I haven't looked to the full scheme in detail, but you need to use 2 diodes to fully separate the 2 circuits.

That said, even if it would work, this mod is done is less time then removing and opening up the dash. To do this mod, you only have to remove the windscreen. You'll have more then enough space to do the things needed.

    vonDutch is right.

The Left n Right Turn Signal Circuits are connected by the Dash Indicator Light. With normal bulbs all around there is enough current draw for the circuitry to separate the circuits and allow each side to work independently. But with the super low current draw of LEDs, no such luck. You have to separate the circuits with the diodes.

    Hi guys

I'm UK based and having some trouble sourcing a suitable flasher relay. mobilecentre are out of stock and clearly can't be arsed to respond to my emails. Vehicle wiring products do a 2 pin 12v 10w flasher relay - anyone know if this will work?

    http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.e...s/flashers.php

the one at the bottom of the page.

Or any other UK based suppliers for this mod? Incidentally, I've wired up the led indicators already - only the rear left comes on solid no matter which side is selected - should I be worried? (I'm thinking this will be sorted once I have completed the mod).

    Cheers

That'll do it but if you don't wire 2 diodes on the dash to split the circuits, it ain't gonna work anyway.

Both side share a common idiot light so you have to do this mod I'm afraid

yup, no worries, the diodes are easy to come by, just wanted to check the spec on the relay.
