Yes, no problem. All the 4000 series are 1 amp devices, the only difference is the peak inverse voltage rating.

I see that Anzac beat me to it. What he said

    Aphex,
Glad you were happy with the instructions. Now it's your turn to contribute. Just don't tell me how great your riding weather is. It's been snowing on and off here for two months now. I haven't been able to get out on the bike since early November.

    no idea why but:

my early, black, bird now has four led indicators, with the stock flasher unit, all working correctly, including at the dash.

all i had to do was use the lead that came with each motrax indicator, and wire a parallel 16 ohm/10 watt resister onto each of the rear indicators - cost about 40 p / 80c each

I am doing a right up for one of the uk forums so will cross post it here.
(Will also cover the installation of HID)

What you have done is to simulate the loading that the original bulbs presented. Although you have gained the advantage of a longer life from the LED's, you have not gained the advantage of significantly lowering the current draw

I'll be interested to see this....!
I'm still having my issue with my ballasts sometimes not igniting when switching between hi and low beams.

I need some first-hand help from somebody who knows more about electrics than me.

I still LOVE my HID's, and I'm NOT giving-up on them!!!

Since it was highly recommended, I put THEGEEK on ignore and the forum IS a much nicer place!!

....I don't understand why guys don't do this right, and put more VOlts back in the charging system?!...
I understand it costs a little more (flasher relay) and perhaps is a little more work...but the benefits FAR outweigh the short-term cost and work?!!

The three benefits of LED's are lower power consumption, more lumens (light output), and longer life.
Do it right the first time, and you can have ALL THREE!!!

well, long and short of it is this... the aftermarket flasher unit i bought, did not work - as in it worked but not with all 4 as LEDs.

Also, I ONLY wanted the LEDs for looks....

He he I can tell you that the weather here in Sweden is terrible, snow mixed with rain and pretty strong winds :pissed The motorcycle season is far away here to if it makes you more happy I started her up yesterday and that didn´t make things better for sure.
Here is the result of my new led:s and one before. And yes they are working fine but I forgot the ignition key when I was taking pictures of the bike

Is there any reason this Mod can't be done prior to fitting LED's? I plan on doing the Wire Mod soon and figued while I am soldering I could go ahead and do this one too, since the future plans do include LED's all around.

No, the diodes wont take the current. They are 1 amp jobbies and the standard circuit will draw 2 x 21W or 3.25 amps @ 13V

Good ask littlcheeze, I was thinking the same thing, and thanks Anzac for the response.

However I have a plan. Being a bit anal about being able to restore the bike to standard at any time I'm going to make up the fix with small bullets so it can simply plug it in when needed and remove to return to normal.

Excuse the hastily prepared powerpoint slide and iffy graphics, but I think this should do the trick. Should be able to unplug the diodes and reconnect as it was before (remembering to replace the digital flasher unit with the stock component.

    Hold on a minute....

I don't want to start an argument, but correct me if I'm wrong. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to do the diode portion of this mod with the standard bulb turn signals. The diodes are only going to see the load of the dash indicator bulb. The turn signals will sink to chassis ground. (please insert standard disclaimer here)

Now, I wouldn't throw the solid state relay in until your ready for the full monty.

I finally got around to doing my own version of the "Nooj" taillights. A little different take, but same principle. Nooj gets all of the credit for this one. I am using the Evoluzion turn signal integrator and supplemented the whole deal with a license plate LED blinker kit (http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...-0060&tier2=58)

    For the front....

I am using the Mad Doctor's up front. Hard to tell how bright they are with the HID going, but you get the idea. I can finally leave the blinkers alone!
