    Oil Change -> Thanks Forum!

    ALL:

    I changed my oil today as part of the maintenance for my new to me Falco.

    Thanks to all the wisdom out there on checking oil levels. After I was done, with 3800cc of oil in it, the oil in the tube was around the level of the fin on the stator cover when idling warm after 20 minutes of riding looking for the darn airshow. Speaking of which:

    Thanks for all the collected wisdom on the oil changes.

    The bike has 12000km on it. The oil must have been changed once, because the click clamp on the oil hose to the tank was replaced with a screw clamp. (Jubilee clip to our English friends).

    When I pulled the magnetic plug next to the oil filter out, it had some trash on it. Fine metal dust that turned the a paper towel gray after the oil bled off. Doesn't seem out of character. There were also some longish metal fibers (maybe .5mm to 1mm wide and 2-3mm long?) Not unexpected, likely from the transmission dogs if I guess correctly.

    Everything went together nicely and seems to work fine. No leaks so far. I'll check again in the morning. Dark now. Sleepy. Must watch Family Guy first.

    Be careful tightening the drain plug, as the threads strip easily.

    Good advice.

    I am looking for a small-value torque wrench now, but thanks to the advice here, I knew to go easy on the torque.

    I am not impressed with the Austrian's machining of the threaded holes. None were chamfered to my standard,meaning inserting the filter tube and the threaded side plug took a lot longer than they should to make sure I didn't cross-thread them.

    No need for a torque wrench...some T-handle hex keys will keep you outta trouble.
    Where da booty at?
