i want acceleration, so i have looked on the forum and seen some diff combonations.
i like the sound of 14/39 14/40
will this put to much strain on the engine? and i dont care if my bike tops out at 85![]()
and who sells these ratios?
cheers james

14 is too low imo.....16/40 is great for acceleration. Nothing can up from the lights.
2006 RS125
Done:
Full Power, CDI Mod, Ramair Performance Filter, Jolly Moto Pipe, 34mm Carb, Polished Exhaust Hanger, 16/40 Gearing, V-Force 3 Reeds, Dark Tint Double Bubble Screen.
To Come:
L.E.D Rear Light, Tail Tidy.
Has for sale:
Standard Reedcage, Standard Expansion Chamber, Standard Airbox.
Plus if you drop it too low you will actually loose acceleration because of all the gear shifts and how quickly the engine revs out.

Whats best for a decent top end and not losing much acceleration? I think I have 17/39 on at the moment and get tad over 100 top end.
Is 17 standard by the way? (I've actually not checked since I've had my new bike as it's almost brand new).
Thanks, Danny
17/40 is standard rs gearing.

Ahh thanks, Well I've just double checked and I have renthal sprocket on back, which is 39T, and I'm pretty sure front hasnt been modified.
16/40 will give you about 90 top end before going into the red and it accelerates like a bat out of hell and mine can lift the front (has a 34mm carb)
im going back to 17/40 for long journeys though as it uses less fuel and puts less strain on the engine
one tooth on the front makes a serious difference, 2-3 teeth on the back make about the same difference
Modifications; 34mm carb, Foam filter, Carbon reeds, 16-40 Renthal sprockets and Gold O-ring chain, Dominator twin Headlight, Mini alloy indicators, Single seat alloy tail fairing, Shotgun rear lights, Wavey disc, Arrow exhaust (got JL but its wank so took it off) Polished stainless bolts everywhere
What Trist says is good advice.
16/40 is gooooood.
Although how Trist can really comment as he doesnt own a 125 I dont know![]()
