I know it's a long shot, but does anybody have a Sargent seat for an '02 Mille they are looking to part with? I have to find out what all the rage is about!
Thanks,
Mike

A Sargent or Corbin seat will only benefit you if you sit in the same position for extended periods of time. They are designed to cradle your bum and don't work well (for me anyways) for aggressive riding.

I have a Sargent on my Mille (not for sale). JCR is right about the aggressive riding. You are not able to slide your butt around as easily like on the stock seat. This bothered me a little, so I put the stock seat back on. Stock seat sucks, immediately came back off for the Sargent. I disagree with JCR about only being for extended riding. It is very comfortable for all length/types of riding. The shape of the seat just takes some getting used to for aggressive riding.
Thanks for that post, it answered something I've always wonder about the Sargent seat. I have sat on them and they did feel more comfy than the stock one right off the bat I'd think JCR is also right in that it will make a bigger difference on a long ride. Which all sounds good to me, but since I prefer to be riding the twisties I always wounder how the cover would do w/ allowing my leather to slide when riding more aggressively. Sounds like I may not like it at least not to start off w/ but I may get used to it.Originally Posted by CBar
I had a Corbin leather seat on my 00.5 RSVR along with Vanson leathers. I never noticed any problems with performance riding in terms of the mobility. I think though that there may be a little more friction between JCR's body and his seat compared to mineOriginally Posted by Aprilia_RSV_Dan
at 170 lbs.
The cushion is very firm and will not collapse all day like the stock unit does in about thirty minutes. My only complaint was the weight - the seat felt like it weighed 10 pounds!![]()

It really helped on long rides, but for the track it was too heavy, too expensive to ever replace and not really needed.
It is not really a friction thing but the shape of the seat. The Sargeant almost has a "lip" on it that you have to go over. Not big, just different. Instead of just sliding you butt over the side on a stock seat, you kind of have to pick your butt up and over on the Sargeant. Not literally pick your ass off the seat, but lighten the pressure on it. The lip on the Sargeant is on the rear 1/4 of the seat. I also ride a lot of twisties which is why I did not like it at first, but I have adjusted and now I don't really notice the extra effort. I would not use one on the track. My seat is also not very heavy, a lot lighter to past Corbin seats that I have had. It is made with carbon fiber (I think, it looks like it). The seat also lifts up to access the screws, like stock. Maybe it is lighter than others because it does not have the full seatpan.Originally Posted by Aprilia_RSV_Dan

Just get the Sargent you'll like it! I'm biased as I loaned them my bike to make the mold, and I got my seat for free! (its the one on their website still). The carbon look, is just plastic. They use an "extractor", bout as big as two office cubes. Put the mold in there, suck out the air out, and Voila! extra light seat! OTOH, the corbin looks like a fiberglass boat oar, and just as heavy. The Sargent DOES have the lip, so it does make a different in track/sporty riding. That being said, I'm usually thinking about more than comfort when I'm doing that type of riding. When I was on the autobahn at 130 for hrs at a time, and on the way back from Suches to ATL, the seat felt fine!

I have a Sargent on mine... I thought the base of it was Carbon Fiber! Guess not after reading this thread.
Its black and has white or silver piping and the Italian flag on one side. Super comfy, but Ive never sat on a stock RSVR seat.
It also has quick release clips wired to the bike.
Are all RSVR seats like this?
How does the stock seat attach?
I like the look of the stock seat best personally.
Price wise: 100 pounds would be about $150 U.S. right?
I never go for extended rides... not my style.
Id trade a MINT stock seat + cash for mine...
Im in L.A. all week for work and might not have internet access.... FYI.

The stock seat is easier to move around on, but the Sargent is MUCH more comfy on long rides. It does make more difference with non-leather pants. You can adjust the friction between leathers and seat with your favorite personal lubricant.
I have an hour home on the freeway after a mountain ride, so that is the torture or pleasure test.
The AF1 quick release pins make the swap easy.

If you really like the stock seat, but are faced with a long haul, try a sheepskin cover you can take off quickly:
