Way OT - Building a trike

I know this is WAY off topic. Long story short, I have tried numerous times to get my wife to ride her own bike, but she is gun shy. She likes to ride on the back, but that isn't realistic for the Falco. So I bought a cruiser. She likes it, but she doesn't see herself doing 300 miles a day on it.

Long story short, I found a wrecked 1999 Honda Shadow 600 for $200. I am considering making a trike out of it. Anyone know of a good format for a trike. I am leaning towards a solid axle, swingarm suspension trike. I have heard good and bad things about independent rear suspensions. A rigid is definately NOT in the equation.

    Any input would be useful.

600cc enough to pull the extra weight of the trike pieces and the passenger? Might be a little wimpy by the time you're done. I know I have seen some kits you could buy to do the conversions.

Now there are 4 "Cylinders" on my ride, inline of course!

    Best trike around

Too cool for words. Nothing even comes close--except maybe a Pembleton with an airhead Beemer on a Citroen 2cv FWD setup.

Trikes need the pair up front--as God intended!

The trike would be for her only, but the added weight is a concern. We live in an area that is nearly as flat as Kansas. If it gets her comfortable enough to ride her own bike, it might be worth it.

rear 2-wheel axle trikes perform badly in fast curves - I deem them much more dangerous than bikes.

Let her ride an ATV / Quad first. Similar dynamics. If she can accomodate to that, it might be a solution to go the trike route.

Poor sod! Do they at least have some curves on your local roads? I mean flat is one thing (flat twisties are major fun as well!), but straight speed limited roads just make it unbearable on a bike.

There is a possibility you are projecting your desires to her. She may not ride the thing at all. She doesn't ride 2 wheels, you need to ride a trike yourself. It is not an easy thing to handle.
    Get her a convertiblee car.

What about this? Any Caterham will beat all bikes in corner speed & G's on public roads (and many a track).

    Used ones available from €10k

You'll be driving this more than your wife!
