Just for interest, These guys offer new (honda) RS250's, and even NSR500's in Australia. Not much help if you have your heart set on an aprillia GP bike though I guess.
Why? Are you planning on displaying it or racing/track days?Originally Posted by icycold

A friend of mine has a 250 and a 125 GP bikes, not street bikes, that for the right price he could be convinced to sell, drop him a line rsv250r@aol.com
I would be interested in an RSV125 (of almost any vintage) if someone knows of one?
Icy, you ever seen the architecture of the 125 motor. Saw one in a spainish mag the other week... not what i expected.

Don't worry, I can fix it.
The rotary valve is friggin huge, but it's behind the cylinder. So, the carb is in a conventional location. So, to me there must be a bevel drive of sorts to drive the valve........
I'll see if I can get a pic of it.

As good as I can do at the moment.

I see your point. I was under the impression that the Aprilia's with the rotary valve were driven directly off the crank and the carbs were on the side of the of the motor because of this.
I'd imagine the setup in the pic you've attached is using some sort of worm gear. But you've probably guessed the same thing.
edit: I'll have to think about that some more. Not really sure how that thing works at all.
Several good bikes showed up recently on fatbaq.
Check pages 2-4 i THINK
Also contact Sbrokerboy .........he had two 97/98 125's and was selling one at what was a very fair price (~11,500 US).
I looked for his email but have been unable to find. He posts at TZ250racing.com
so just register real quick and pm him....

Ohh, here's a thought; maybe the motor is actually backwards of how it's mounted in the frame. The exhaust is to the rear and the rotor valve is to the front. That 'might' give an advantage with the flow of air from the front of the machine.

I'm sure they used to straight off the crank (underseat exhaust), but not so sure about the current units. Have to have a look
JZ, I'm an infrequent poster on TZ250 racing (too much Yam, not enough Honda), so I'll go have a gander. Cheers.

Only way I can see that facing forward with that layout is if the cylinder is upside down

Not so much upside down as strait forward.
