Rear Shocks and front Fork seals

Hey, I have a 1993 Aprilia Pegaso 125 (noticed there isnt a forum for that model anymore :P) and it runs fine, but I need to replace/repair the rear shock absorber as it's way too bouncy and fix a seal on one of the front forks which is leaking. Can anyone point out where to start looking, not really looking to spend a lot on it, so it would probably have to be a used rear shock if anything (unless they can be repaired)...is it also the case that the parts on the RS125 are largely the same as those used back on the pegaso as a few people have said. Would appreciate any help, thanks.

Thanks, they look remarkably similar but possibly a bit short, but will check out the sizes.

Also is it 'do-able' to replace seals in the front forks?

Oh and one more thing, the feul tap is a little stiff and leaks a little if turned too far, so will have to replace that at some point, are there any cheaper than this one : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aprilia-PEGASO...QQcmdZViewItem

and are aprilia fuel taps generally uniparts/fit all models.

i have 1 of those betor shocks and they are good, but stay away from the £60 YSS! they dont have them in stock or sumin so u will have to wait an age, trust from my experience!
If i ever offend add "I am a little girl, spare my feelings" to the thread to save any tears and red/yellow cards...

Dont even Bother Trying to change a front fork if it's the USD forks ...

They need some special kit and some know how to even just open them up. Someone on here did make their own tool for this job, not sure how he did it though, but would be easier to get them professionally changed. Only £80 to send them off, get them changed with OEM seals then have them sent back. They'd Probably do one for less or something not sure. Check out Ebay for those Services, both DPS-Racing and Brook Racing offer it on Ebay.

I don't know what it is like on the Pegaso 125, but I changed my front fork seals on the RS125 the other day, it was a bit difficult but I managed and they have stopped leaking.

Dan-RS125 from here managed to change his fork seals. Try and use the search, think there was a little tutorial that helped him posted by andy.

    I have searched the forum and found the guide for you;

    http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/s...d.php?t=107431

That will tell you how to do it, I would imagine it is the same for the Pegaso.

Hahaha after reading this for the second time, i just realised you sid you have an Aprilia Pegaso 125 ... SNAP!

Dont know why i missed that bit, but here's mine:

Really nice bikes ent they =D ... What you getting out of her Top Speed?

As to the Rear shocks, no the RS125's are wy too short for it. Best bet is Tuareg/Rally/ETX 125 shocks, but i'm not sure. My front seals have gone too and my Rear is soo bouncy so i thought it was gone, perhaps this is normal then ??

After what people said above i might give building the front a go, but not for 3 weeks or so. Mine have lost all their oil now anyway, so i'm purly on springs now

EDIT: Also forgot to mention the Rear isn't a re-buildable model. A completely new shock is required. Have you had many engine re-builds yet ?? What carb u running on it?

Here's mine , not in as good condition as yours but still a nice bike :P.

Seems to have almost identical problems lol, I went to a mechanic getting a feul tap replaced and he didnt seem too enthusiastic about the suspension while he was looking at the bike, said that the rear shock was 'gone' (although it didn't seem that bad when riding it, just flexed a centimeter or so more than it should) and would cost more than the bikes worth to replace (another £450) because it's an italian import and the parts are hard to find, but his estimate is a bit exagerated I think. So it's probably just be an an issue from them being old bikes and them wearing rather than normal for the bike. It is quite funny how we both have leaking fork seals as well though, very coincidental, the left fork on mine has leaked all over the garage floor in the past few weeks lol so I doubt if there's much oil left in it too. The bike is quick though, I havnt really had much of a run on it yet but I got up to 50 mph on a 300 m long back road on the first ride without really pushing it until the road ran out.
Considering both bikes are having the same problems though :P, if your starter motor suddenly stops going and instead just clicks from the centre of the bike, it'll be the starter solenoid, just spent a few hours taking the bike apart to get to the annoying thing which is attached to the main frame behind the feul tank :P. Works fine now though .

But yeah if you find a rear shock which fits then pm me mate, and vice versa .

Thanks mate, although Pegaso is about 10 inches of spring, 10 rings in the coil, rs is closer to 6 rings right?
