    Crankshafts for different models

I have heard that the 1998, 99, 2000 RSV Mille models had a diferent crankshaft to the later ones ie; lighter and better balanced. Can anyone tell me more?

    Crankshafts for different models

From what I heard the earlier models had a blueprinted crankshaft, which means they were better balanced and all the rough edges taken off them.
I was hopeing someone else could shed some light on the subject.

    CRANKSHAFTS

Only the '98-'99 RSV's had the light crank up to engine no. 524151. These cranks were 4mm smaller in (outside diameter) diameter than the later cranks, therefore lighter. These were not specially prepared or better quality.

    Re: CRANKSHAFTS

Thanks for the info, my Mille is one of the first 2000.5 models in the UK and the engine number is RO687283 so I guess I have the newer crank, I am not sure why they changed them but it could be for better torque at low revs.

    Cheers
