    Exclamation hhhheeeeeelllllllppppppp!!!!!!

    Hi there,

I have recently brought myself an Aprilia rs125 GP-1, undoubtedly the best model, and i am having trouble with it, it keeps on over heating I noticed this when I was riding around town and pulled up at the traffic lights next to an R6 and said your bikes a bit smokey he turned and said its not me mate I looked down and I could hardly make out my bike through all the smoke, I could feel my face getting redder and redder. Anyhoo, I took it home had a look the coolant is full so no problem there unless there could be a blockage, I decided to take it down the A3 bypass let the air get to it yes it kept the temp down to 73 but as soon as I stop woosh temp goes up to 80/90 and smoke bellowes out. Also I noticed when it is reaching 9 - 10,000 revs it starts choking and spluttering and generally does not have the power to carry it up to 11,000 revs. The bike has also been dormant for a couple of years in a garage. can anyone help? lol Master.GP-1

It could be an air lock in the coolin system. Your best bet is to drain the rad, and wash the whole thing thru with the hose. then refil with fresh coolent and give it a go.
I would also put fresh 2stroke and fuel in. as it has been sitting round for a while, all the fluids have prob gone shitty.

probably old oil deposits being burnt off if its been left that long, sounds like a good idea to drain off the fluids like dcy said

I'm going to drain the radiator, is this the lowest point to drain it, at the bottom exit where it goes to the centrafugal pump. And what is the best way to get the coolant back in without getting an air-lock, is there anything that i need to know whilst doing this. Keen to learn!

I have only got a side stand so it will be leant over a bit, is this satisfactory or does it need to be completely upright.

There's drain screw on the left side of the engine to drain the coolant from.

they do have to be completely upright, would be best if somone could hold it up while you fill it.

leen it towards the shed or sumit, then put a peice of wood under the stand to keep it upright. just be carful not to push,or pull it over.

Before managing to drain the coolant I found that my bike was chucking out smoke from behind the rad does'nt look like its coming from there.

Also noticed that when I start the bike it sounds like there is a rattling noise coming from inside the clutch casing, once the bike is ticking over it sounds normal.

I have noticed the sound when I have been riding it at higher revs, and when it gets to 9,000 revs it really struggles and is really jerky.
