John, I love that blue 1200 of yours. Is that the original paint? I just bought another 1978 Jota America 1200 but it was repainted. Are the orange stripes still available? I assume they are decals. I saw a 1200 like yours at a Dealer in Berkeley, California in 1978. I think it was the cover bike on the Cycle Guide magazine. It is the only one I ever saw in the flesh.

George, I know that blue bike and the dealership. It was TT Motors and the bike belonged to the owner John.

Wow! What a small world we live in. Yes, it was TTMotors and I was a dedicated Ducati Bevel freak - I talked to John at length on a very slack day for business. I remember him saying how shitty the M/C business was, but I could tell he didn't mean it. I wonder what happened to that pretty 1200.

George Sorry, I didn t get back here. I am not sure what happened to John's bike. I know john turned the business over to his son and they were out of business within the year. John moved to Maryland and was working in a DAYCARE.(???)
He has since moved over to a BMW shop there as the service manager.
Do you post in the Laverda Forum? I think I have seen your bike picture there.

The frame and arm were made for me by a local engineer/frame builder called Andy Sidlow back in 94, a mix of ZXR400/750 running gear with Harris adjustable triple clamps

The Motor is still standard apart from a saches ignition , built it to ride so kept away from fancy paint and chrome. I just made the exhaust can that is shown - sounds lovely but is still under development.

LOL - you can tell I was still single then - that is in my dinning room

I almost bought a Laverda a few years ago, love the looks and the sound. Couldn't get a good enough deal.

Well. I bought a red SF2 in 1997 for $2500. Yes, it ran.
Those prices did NOT go down. No No No.

Bimbo, are those Marvic wheels? I so much want to find a SF !! I have been noticing a Zane 750 for sale here in the San Francisco Bay area for some time now. However, they have some major issues and they just don't have what the original Laverdas have.
The older I get the faster I was.
