    Gsxr

will the tuono keep up with the GSXR600's and then the 750's. Haven't had anyone come up along side with a desire to race or sprint I should say and am just curious at the experiences the rest of you have had.

    600 no problem.

750 close but they will probably get ya the further you run.

1000 no chance on the T. Smile and wave bye bye.

Last trackday we had all three in our group. The 600 was an older version. 750 and 1000 were 05-06. The thou didn't have a very competent rider so I didn't see him much. granted most of us weren't The 750 was very fast. In the strait stuff anyway.

Naw, the Tuono is an old nail. Couldn't keep up with my grandma's Toyota.

You should sell it immediately and get a Concours.

Tuono on a wet track with Pilot Powers will ride rings round the rest...

When it starts to dry the 1Ks will come fly by....

On the road, you'll walk away from the 600, and the 750 you should be able to keep just behind you until you get into some serious speed. The 1000 you should do off the line and for a bit more if you're good, but then it's good night Irene. HOWEVER, that's all straight line stuff, and IMHO, when riding on the road it would need to be a good rider that would be faster from point A to point B to keep in front of the T. I ride with some very good 1000 riders, and I'm not a very good rider, but I'm often in front because they just can't do what I can on the roads that we ride. The T is just so tight thru the twisties, has the dynamics to keep very planted even on shitful road surfaces, and can then explode out of corners keeping the 1000's wondering what the fuck just happened, did I miss a gear change or what, and where the fuck has that Ape gone??? It's interesting when someone who hasn't ridden with us before comes along on their thou because most have never seen a T let alone ridden with one. They generally expect much less than what they soon discover! I'm sure heaps of guys here would have stories about how they smoked a thou on the weekend etc etc. Keeps me smiling too, and one of the reasons why I ride this bike and not something else

I should add that on the T tucked down hard, I can keep an '04 Blade where it should be until around 230k/h, he then starts to inch forward on me, but generally we've run out of road by then and it pisses him off every time

    Good post Ape.

My mate rides a K4 Gixxer thou. It has awesome power and when the revs are rising it just pulls away ON STRAIGHT ROADS.

Through the twisties I have nearly ridden in to the back of him so many times on corner entries as the T just carries tons of speed. And before you ask, he is a really good rider.

All depends on the rider really doesn't it. Stick Rossi on a track with a CG125 and he'd probably piss all over me on my Tuono. And if a T was ridden round a circuit with a GSXR 1000 / 750 / 600 by the same pro rider, they'd probably go quicker on any of the sports bikes.

However, in the real world on the road it's a different matter, it's all about bike usability and ride experience. I for one get totally pissed off being held up by a badly ridden R1 but I'd be in awe if a well ridden 400 blew me away. Shit, I've been trounced all over by a well ridden XJ900 before now, nothing to be ashamed of, he was just a better rider than me.

I don't think I've ever been in a situation where you can use more than 7/10th's of any modern sports bike on a public road. I would have thought it's got very little to do with the bike and far more as to how big a nutter the rider is.

On the track it's a different matter but it takes a very skillfull rider to get it right for more than say three laps on the trot. Even having done nearly 20,000 miles of Tuono riding I still think though that I'd be quicker on my previous Gixer 750 after a couple of sessions retuning my brain. Mainly because it is the right (best) tool for the job. Not sure I'd be having any more fun though

Did a road trip in the summer to Spain and back with one of the bikes being a GSXR 750 06 (as shown in aviator) on the straight roads, dual carriage ways etc the Gsxr had more top end speed and pull over 100mph, but in the twisties of the pyrenees, there was no contest. The Tuono was faster into corners and a hell of alot faster out of them!

I rode the 750 for several hours, and it's a great bike (better ride than the Gsxr 1000 IMO) but it's no contest for the Tuono in every day road conditions, especially the tight stuff.

I part exchanged a GSXR1000K1 (some say the best of the modern gixxers) for my Tuono - on the A and B roads, the Tuono is quicker for me, it just inspires sooo much more confidence, and is just all round easier to go quickly on... it is not as stable, but can be more easily manouvred due to the wide bars... the engine is easier to use too on these roads.. ride it like a scooter in second - twist and go on steroids..
*However*, on the motorway, dual carriageways and sweeping big roundabouts, there is no contest, the gixxer ridden in the powerband will piss on the T - you need to ride a Gixxer thou to truely appreciate what an awesome bike it is on sweeping fast roads, there isn't a lot that will keep up with it to be honest - and the full fairing makes high speed much easier too - you can sit at 150 all day if you want.
I can't comment on 600's and 750's, except I used to sh*t on them at every opportunity on the 1000, as a matter of principle

I would expect of the three though, the 600 to have the fastest 0-60 due to the smaller pistons etc... but its going to be a bitch to ride as quick as a T cos of the buzzy nature of the engine.. the 750 could be the best of both worlds...

On a sprint off the lights its a toss up on the day - if you get it just right, you could probably beat all three - the 1000 isn't that easy to launch without major clutch abuse.

I always try whatever I'm up against, its rude not to - but I'm immature and childish - or so my wife tells me
