    Question What oil is correct

Went to the local Aprilia dealer today to get some oil and an oil filter

This will be the first time i have changed the oil, cos i have only had the bike a few months

?? they gave me mobil semi synth 10w 40......i thought it was supposed to be 15w 50

Is this correct or is it not that important

    Cheers

I just bought my bike a few months ago. I am a stickler for following manufacturer's recommendations. I could not find 15W50 in any of the shop on shelf so my local KTM dealers ordered some for me. If the manufacturer calls for it, I will find it. I am using semi-syn for the first change and full syn after that.

i think it has more to do with the temp of the country you are in, 15/50 is slightly thicker than 10/40, so better in slightly more aimed at warmer climates. I use mobil 10/40 in my XR400 and SV650 and it will be going in the Falco when the time comes. started using it on recommendation of my Honda dealer who said they use it in Every 4 stroke they service.

Anyways 10-40 semi here allso. Unless you are in Saudi don't think you really need 15-50.

    Forget Saudi Arabia.....

    Aprilia is made in Italy.....

Their average temperature is 15.4 C or 59.7 F for the year.

Highest temperature is July at 24.1 C or 75.9 F.

If they call for 15W50, then I will give them that.
