    Break-in of front brakes

I just got my new '07 Tuono home, now with 17 miles on it. The front brakes are not that strong now, needing break-in. Any particular method for best doing that? My new '04 Tuono never did develop really strong front brakes and another older Tuono I rode had notably stronger brakes. They just seemed to bite harder. Just don't want to use the brakes early on in a less than ideal fashion leading to inferior braking performance. On the older Tuono, I just used the brakes normally, perhaps even a bit lightly given all the engine braking available.

I always try to work them a bit when they are new. "bed them in" with a couple hard stops from 30, 60, 90.

    after that just ride.

You may find this performance auto/brake company's link informative:

    http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedinstock.shtml

see the site's other links/articles regarding rotors/pads etc

I e-mailed them this past summer with a question and they replied!! I asked if considered providing motorcycle pads to their product line and he said they are researching just that possiblility.

As with so many other aspects of motorcycling I didn't clue in on the importance of this bedding-in, next pad replacement I will immediately after installing pads.

    Congrats

Congrats on getting the new ride. Where did you finally end up getting it?

I agree about the initial hard stops from 30, 60, 90. Then just ride, never had any problems before, and my front brake was strong the minute I picked it up...the thing is incredible!

I am suprised to hear that, I find the front brake works really well. I had a BMW with the servo assisted brakes a few years ago that just about threw you over the bars with a slight tug, but these seem to stop progressively but quickly.

If your going to add mods and your looking for more front brake, try a brembo 18x19 brake master. its amazing!

Perhaps my expectations are higher than I realize. I am looking for a reasonably strong two finger pull to have the rear wheel off the ground at speed. Not that I will be doing that, but this is the kind of power I was hoping the radial mount Brembos will offer.

The older Tuono seems to have the initial "bite" because the older brakes weren't radial brakes. Radial brakes don't give that initial "bite" but pull much stronger progressively, giving better feel feedback and control.
