Just did a valve clearance check at 12k miles. all were good 2 were at the tight limits but not enough to worry about.
I guess I will check them again in 12k miles.![]()
For now its running better than ever.

Who said you get slower as you get older!
What he said. Mines got 30K MILES and my valves haven’t budged since new![]()

Probability factor now 1:1, normality has been returned. Anything you can’t deal with now is your own problem

I had my 12K valve check and all is right with the world in ApriliaLand. No issues whatsoever!
How can our bikes be so good and so easy to maintain!!! Ducati should start painting their bikes the color called Envy Green.
As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists
Had mine checked last week at ~18K miles and still in spec. My mechanic said normally with shim under bucket once they are set they generally don't move. He said his wife's Falco is the same way everytime he has checked them they were in spec.
Yep, I checked mine yesterday at 22k miles or so, and all was good. It was a lot less painful to do than I thought.![]()

I was planning on checking mine for the first time this winter, but you guys have me thinking about procrastinating even longer.
I've got friends with their Ducatis marooned in the garage waiting for them to save enough money for the valve check.![]()
A friend of mine had a monster and he had to have the dealer do the valves every 4600 miles as I recall. He rode so much that he was having it done every month. They were charging him about $600 a time I think. Ouch. He didn't seem to mind.
My RSVR was good at the first check. Headed for the second check in early 07 season.![]()
Screw that noise. I wouldn't put up with those costs even once a year.Originally Posted by curvecrazy

Read somwhere that Ed from AF1 recons that only 3% of Aprilias that are in for valve check need adjusting. That is impressive! I will still be checking mine when they are due, just in case!

I just checked mine at 15k miles and 1 valve was out of spec. I guess i'm one of the unlucky 3%.
My bike has ticked over 43k, checked out by my mechanic and nothing to adjust, I think they will run very high ks without much effort . . will check again at 50+ . .
Cheers

The road less travelled has corners that need exploring . . .
These bikes are amazing.
Coming-off two VFR's previous to buying my Bird, I remember being nervous about the "Italian" build quality, and service intervals of the bike.
I'm still amazed at just HOW good these bikes are. It REALLY does make an Aprillia a keeper~!
