That was the question I had..........

I always wondered the same thing. Everyone made such a big deal over the lightweight wheels so I just had to try a set. I'm too cheap to buy a new set so after careful watching and bidding on ebay, I finall had a set of my own. I swaped the tires from the old brembo rims over to the new OZ wheels so I would have an equal comparison . So here is my opinion on the subject.

The light weight rims do make a difference. The initial "turn in effort" is lighter. Once in the turn, adjustments to your line is simple. But remember, our bikes handle verry good with the stock equipment. The lighter wheels make a great bike even better. If I can remember correctly, after purchasing the wheels, I sold my stock set so I have somewhere between 7-$800.00 dollars in the rims. I can live with that. Paying the $2000.00 or so that people want to me just isn't a good value. The bikes are too good stock. Especially for street riding. Hope all this babble helps.
Its all fun and games till someone puts an eye out!

Are they worth it? It depends. How fast do you ride in the corners.............................?

The first ride on the Tuono after I took off the stock cast wheels & put on the OZ srock R wheel was a scare! The first turn I went into on my special road I almost ran up on the curb/sidewalk!!! You get used to it though. just think turn now & it turns!

Same story here. Replaced the stock wheels with forged aluminum PVM's and figured about a 4-5 lb advantage. Not an earth-shattering change, but a noticeable improvement. But if you don't have premium suspension components already, I think the $$ is better spent on that.

I put the same type of PVM's on a BMW Boxer Cup Rep and lost over 11 lbs there. THAT made a very nice improvement.
    see ya later,

Look at it this way. Lighter wheels effects every facet of the motorcycle....braking, handling, accelleration, and looks. Last time I checked, no other modification does all that. Its simple physics....it has to make a difference. How much difference? You will never know until you change them out. Everyone is different, some people can notice very small changes ....while others can't. If you have the money, buy them. IF you can afford it, get the forged Magnesium wheels. They are so light its unbelievable. If the roads you ride are crap, I would stick with Forged Aluminum.

I put the forged OZs on mine and it was the best money I spent on the bike. I highly recommend lighter wheels as the first upgrade. IMO it is the best performance upgrade for the buck (even if it means a lot of bucks!)

When I put OZs on my Falco it felt like it gained 10 hp and lost 50 pounds. I felt so much more engine response that it was really an amazing difference, imo.

So drop the money and get the wheels, try them out, if you aren't happy you can sell them in two shakes of a lamb's tail.
