I have done about 5000kms on my DD1200 but have not been able to get comfortable with the front end. I have had a few front end slides at low speed and get high speed bar shake. I have tried all the usual adjustments but had no improvement. I discussed it with my Aprilia dealer at the 5k service but he was very disinterested mainly because bar shake only happens at high speed. I decided to have my forks revalved for my weight by the local suspension people Hoey suspension. When they stripped the compression leg they
found a faulty part. The thread appears to have been drilled and tapped crocked in the part that holds the valve and piston seal. See pictures. Now i have to wait for a replacement part from Italy as Aprilia have agreed to replace the cartridge under warranty.

Hi,

I feel the original clutch of DD is very hard, it makes me very tired when stuck in traffic jam. Is there anyone change the original clutch ( lever, cylinder, etc...)? What changes I should do to make it softer?

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

First post :) Short version on why i want to fit a 15T --- I live in Johannesburg South Africa, which is about 1690m above sea level and as a result on avg we have around 18% less power than at the coast. :bangwall:

To compensate for this i am looking to fit a 15T front cog (and perhaps even go to a 42 in the back too) to help bring some of the lost acceleration due to power back. Does anybody have a 15T fitted on their 1200? I just want to make sure there are no swingarm clearance issues with regards to the chain. I did a search but the posts that i found were for the Shiver and DD750...

Thanks for the help and advice in advance

Cheers

Was out with a friend and tried the Capo1200 for some 80 or so miles.
Roads were semi-damaged tarmac to freeways.

This was the full option model (panniers left at home) with ADD and other letter-combos.

First impression: It feels rather light compared to its size. Positive!
Think they got the weight balance spot on. It is much easier to go slowmo on this, in traffic, turns or the technical parts compared to my -09 KTM 990 adv.

The engine is alert, responsive instantly off idle. Fueling is acceptable considering it is stock in every bit. Think it would benefit from a proper exhaust and a mapping to even out two or three minor hesitations.
Don't missunderstand, comparing it (again) with my Ktoom, it is ages better in engine usability and smoothness.

There was some odd vibrations going through the footpegs at 4500-5500rpm, annoing at first but after 15mins I forgot about it. Can be something to do with the exhaust mount, as I can't recollect that the Dorso12 had this. No disturbing vibrations in the handlebars. Nice

Chassis is comfortable, I was faster on the damaged back roads on the Capo1200 than I was on my Tuono2. It feels quite a lot like the dorso (no shocker) but with little higher handlebars and better seat.
Wasn't toying too much with the ADD, it was good from starters.
Stable but yet easy to toss around the bends. Great!

Would I recommend it? Definitely!
I've had the Beemer 1150gs, Africa twin and now the Ktm. The dorso kicks em, hard. Would be interesting to try the Duc multi12 in comparison.
Would the bigger tank fit with out adding to much top wweight?
