Just curious if this is a common thing or if the tank on my bike has swollen massively. Before I get to full lock in either direction, the switch group will contact the tank. The bike has stock bars and triples so it's not a mille/tuono/falco front end swap issue. Had the tank off the other day and when I put it back down it didn't line up perfectly with the mount holes but it wasn't terribly far off either, basically I was able to get the bolts back in with just a little angling to get them started in the holes then a pull back to get them straight and they threaded right in. Steering stops are installed on the lower triple and they don't look worn or damaged at all, neither do the frame stops as far as I can tell. It's not really that huge a deal for now since the thing badly needs to be repainted so i don't care about a little contact messing things up but once I do have it refreshed I don't want to end up with scuffs or scratches every time I need to turn the thing around in a tight spot.

So after assembling the kingbearing/axle and taking the bike for a ride, I have noticed that the cush hub is very warm. I can keep my hand on it, so its not burning hot, but I dont have a number yet.

This is after riding easy for about 25miles at moderate and interstate speeds, but not full go.

I checked the rear disc and it was cooler to the touch but still warm probably due to some braking.

Also, the wheel was warmer in the middle of the wheel but not as warm as the cush.

What might cause this? Chain too tight? I've adjusted to allow 25mm slack while on centerstand.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I'll be taking another ride this afternoon with an infared laser thermometer to get some number.

Hi guys. Me again.

I'm in a HUUUUGE dilemma. My Futka :lover: has just done over 100.000kms and is 2001. I love her to bits. I bought it at 2007 when she has 16.500kms. I must say that it's the best bike evah. But the years and the kilometers start to show. Right now I'm looking at a pretty hefty sum of money to be spent on her. Sometime in the near future I will need to change the king bearing, the rear shock, the clutch basket(a priority) , new/used master cilinder for the rear brake(also a priority), a new paintjob would be lovely, too. Put everything together and ... well, it's a lot of money. And as far as I know, I'm not Gates's son...

On the other hand I just saw 2 ads for used Futuras with around 30.000kms, one is 2002 and one is 2005. Both are silver, like mine and both have a list price of around 3000€.

So, my dilemma is:

Should I spend a hefty amount of money on my Futura

or

should I get a newer one, strip my bike of goodies(Full BEF, Ricks regulator, huge battery), bolt them on the newer one and sell the old one at a used parts dealer? The price difference, as I can sum um, is ... well, almost non existent.

Is that just plain wrong, changing her for her age? It almost feels like I'm thinking of cheating on her...
---------------------------------------
My bike also has a voltmeter and heated grips, but that's just around 120€ for both, I would probably buy new ones for the newer Futura, so it's not an issue.

---------------------------------------
New Wilbers rear shock and a used front end from RSV Mille are an option with both ideas.

Hi guys.

My service guy told me long ago that my clutch basket is worn and that I need to replace it sometime in the future. And that the bolt, holding the clutch has come undone.

From then on I did 30.000kms and now the vibrations are begining to make my feet hurt (excessive vibration syndrome). So I decided to change the whole damn thing.

2 years ago I bought a set of clutch plates from a guy for 1/3 of the price, still have them packed in the garage, so that's one thing I don't have to buy.

So, my question is: is it possible/smart/normal to get a used low mileage RSV Mille clutch basket or must I get a brand spanking new unit? I heard they cost A LOT.

And second: Can I replace the thing myself with just basic tools and know-how? I have an oil chance in plan sometime in the near future, I could kill 2 birds with one fix.

And Third: What price do you thing is okay for a complete used clutch basket with bolts and springs and all?

4th: Do I need some extra stuff, some seals? Or ?

Thanx

p.s. The bike has done 102.000kms.

I recently bought a salvaged 03 Futura was curious as to whether or no the first gen Tuono instrument clusters are interchangeable with the Futura? I'm converting this bike over to practically a Touno with a different tail on it. It'll probably eventually end up as a full custom but who knows.

Anyway, I prepped a lower that was damaged too bad to save, but the color was decent for matching. Slightly faded, but not badly. To the left is the painted color and you can see the tape line. The other piece is one of my fairings that I low sided last year on the track with.

As any tint coats go, the more you spray, the deeper the color gets, but I am pretty damned happy with what I ended up with. My fairing was definitely faded some, and the low side damage does not help, but like I said, I am please with the results.
