So, I was going to go to a track day today but that ain't happening.
I have never had a problem with this until today. I go to load the bike up and lucky me I try to crank it first, it cranks but will not start, so......I'm going thru and trouble shooting.
The best I can tell is the eprom went bad just sitting in the garage. I have no spark no fuel, the display does not even go into diagnostic mode when I plug in the wires under the seat. I tried the stock chip directly into the ECU socket {which I have personally never run the bike with} and there is no change. Now I think I broke a pin off the #1 pin on the daugther board for my special 8796739 aprilia chip.:bangwall:

I get no spark, no fuel , side stand switch is good, tip over good, the fuel pump checks good. Connecting diagnostic wires has no effect on dash display.

Thanks, Rob

I could of course use my existing yokes but i much prefer the more exotic looking later yokes with their 'cut outs' as opposed to my rather boringly plain looking original ones.
Thought theyd be ok but seems theyve either needed a few miles to bed in or havnt been adjusted right by me. Ive been getting what feels like front end suspension bounce and lived with it thinking it must be the tarmac, or just the way the bike is. Rode the womans r6 and its like uber smooth compared to mine, solid feel etc. so quick whip of the top yoke off and it felt like a full 1/4 turn loose, i didnt think i left it like that so what do you think? Niped it up hand tight and re done the lock nut etc, doesnt feel stiff but maybe marginally tighter than before.

Maybe inadvisedly I had the local Ohlins-approved suspension guy change the oil and seals in my R&T 43 forks (stock on the 2000.5 R). When I picked them up I asked what oil level he'd used and he said 70 mm. This is 10mm more oil than the minimum value in the references I've found, and the front suspension is now stiff. So I'd like to just syringe some oil out of the forks with them mounted on the bike, if possible. Has anyone been down this road and do you have any advice? From what I can see in diagrams, the fork caps are threaded to the preload rod and have a jam nut preventing their removal. So is this even do-able?

Spotted this part below, gave it a clean as it had a thin film of dirt on it and was surprised to find I could twist/rotate the thing a quarter turn or so in both directions in its housing if I held onto the green electrical connector part, up and down. Should I be able to do move it at all?. Parts diagrams show it as 'Inj Valve complete'.

Ok, so I have been riding 2-3 days a week. I came home last night and put the bike away in the garage. This morning when I pulled it out, the front brake lever pulled straight to the grip, no brakes up front. So I took it out in the street and rode around the block, stopping and pumping up the brakes.

When I'm stopped, I can pump up the brakes with 2-3 pulls, and the lever is firm. It stays this way as long as the bike is stationary.

If I push the bike forward or backwards 10 feet or more, lever then pulls straight to the grip and takes 2-3 pumps to firm up again.

I let the bike sit in the garage for a few hours, and the lever was still firm. The moment I move the bike, no more resistance in the lever, it goes straight to the grip.

So I parked the bike and took the truck to work, very painful on such an awesome day!

When I got home, I bled the front brakes using the power bleed syringe technique, no dice.
I then bled the master, still no dice, fluid was super clean too.
I do not have any leaks anywhere.
I checked the caliper pistons, none of them are sticking or binding, they all moved freely and easily pushed back into place.
Pads are new about 2000 miles ago, had zero issues after installing them.

I'm open to any ideas to figure this out. Has anyone experienced this before? Any thoughts if I need to rebuild the master cylinder, maybe due to a seal? Or maybe it's a caliper?

The fact that I only lose pressure when the front tire spins doesn't make sense to me. My only thought is the rotors are moving the pistons somewhat when turning, and that's causing the problem?

BTW, I'm about to top 58,000 miles on the bike here shortly, not that THAT makes any difference.

Ok so I've got the 03 model r with ohlins forks and radial calipers. I've noticed each leg is different one has small pinch bolts and the other has larger bolts indicating its the later shape leg. The forks were taken apart yesterday to replace the seals and we noticed the springs were different and was told one is a 0.8kg spring from the older shape 1kg spring with two notches on the top from the later shape 04 onwards.

i called hm racing about the springs and they asked me which length springs do I need 240mm or 260mm. He said the 260mm is from 2004 onwards.

which length springs do I get if so which rate as I weigh 90kg with kit on and can I just pull a spring from a spare leg if so which year?
