Is there supposed to be a crush washer on the engine case drain bolt?
Also: That bolt gets how many footpounds o' torque?

Thanks:rolleyes:

The service manual I have, only lists Nm and kgm, so you will have to convert by multiplying Nm by .738 to get lbft, or by 8.85 to get lbin. The manual states there is a washer for the oil tank drain bolt, but doesn't metion replacing one for the engine drain bolt. Torque values are; 15 Nm for oil tank drain bolt, and 12 Nm for the engine drain bolt. There is a link on this site, I think it is in the Tuono section, to get the Mille service manul in a PDF file for free ( look for the post titled "Tuono Manual"). This site does not have the V990 Engine service manual, which you will need to be able to adjust the valves. I found the Service manual, parts manual AND the V990 engine manual on CD on ebay. I only paid 6 bucks for it. The Aprilia manuals are the worst manuals I have ever seen, and are very difficult to use and time consumming. I thought Ducati had difficult to use manuals, but these top that!
PS- I hear you had the 2 into 2 Akra system, but didn't like it. I have this system but haven't yet installed it.

Looks like the engine drain bolt wants 8.856 ft lbs and the tank drain bolt wants 11.070, but I would be real carefull with the tank as the threads are supposedly very fragile...

Did you have any trouble removing the drain plugs?..I understand some have had the oil tank stripped and the engine plug is usually scary tight..Keep us posted and I eventually have to do this meself..

Steve.

The oil tank was tight. But not as tight as the case drain bolt!
Whew!. Make sure your hex bit is well seated deep into the bolt before you apply the pressure.

I changed the oil filter also. I didnt clean the oil screen. I imagine the break-in svc at the dealer will do it. I got the 1st svc included w/purchase. I'm changing oil myself at this point (585mi) because I probably wont get to the break-in service until about 800-900mi mark.

About a gallon of oil came out and a full gallon went in.
