Rev Limit of the 550

Hi,

Not talking about the light on the dash, but the actual limit.

Is there a limiter that kicks in, and if so can it be adjusted?

I reckon I hit 11,400rpm and something kicked in, just wanted to know if it was electrical or had I really hit the limit?

Obvioulsy if I had really hit the limit I should go a bit easier, which would be easy if I could adjust it electrically.....

There's a factory set rev limiter which you can't change. 11.5k sounds about right. Someone will know the exact numbers.
Doesn't hurt to hit it occasionally (once the engine is warm and after running in of course).

The owners manual says that there is an electronic limiter that kicks in at 11,500 RPM. I have not hit it yet as I am still breaking the bike in (220 miles so far).
